Dear Christy,
Thanks to Hilary I have seen that lovely moment of you singing with that young boy. What a fantastic moment that must have been for that lad to sing with his idol. And what a lovely voice he had! And singing my favorite song, the first one I ever heard of you.
Last week we had The Fiddle Case here , great guys and Kieran also has a lovely voice. But they know I m a great fan of you so its better that they don’t know in advance that I’m in the room otherwise they are a bit shy to sing. So they told me!
You are an inspiration for many people.
Take good care and see you….
Chris

Fiddle Case are a much loved band in Wets Clare..happy to hear that they are spreading their wings
Hello Christy and All,
I’ve been dying to show off my wire strung harp and took a very short video of it yesterday, now I’m getting my hands around it a bit.
Hope you enjoy. https://youtu.be/fk6GsyzsX18
Hello again!
I’m very conscious that Míceál and Christy have hogged a few websites and SM outlets and far be it for me to take over this one!
But I feel like this is a safe space, so here goes..
We’re not SM people. I didn’t realise I still had twitter and had to redownload the app to see what was going on. The only devices in the house apart from my and my husband’s phones are my school ipad. I’m coláiste airt on FB as I need an account to advertise an Irish language summer scheme i run. My children aren’t interested in devices, but do watch TV. What I’m trying to say is that in the digital age, we probably belong in the early ‘90s!
But this is beyond us. Every time I open twitter there’s another 20+ notifications. Myself and the hubby sat last night watching the number of likes on Christy’s tweet grow before us. We don’t waste our Friday evenings!
But I’ve learned 2 things from this. 1 ~ it seems that after a particularly dark week in Ireland, a simple, heartwarming video like this was longed for.
And 2 ~ that absolutely nothing phases Míceál. We haven’t shown him too much, only Christy’s posts and comments really, and that’s all he cares about. He’s aware that he’s appearing on tv via Skype on Monday (another app we had to set up), and all he wants to know is if he’ll get out of school early for it. His Christy Songbook still lies on his bedside locker, and his head is still locked in Thursday night.
Christy, I’m so so happy that you’re getting the comments you’re getting. I could go on all day about how much Míceál loves you, how as a family we can’t say the time if it’s 11:45 as we’ll hear a shout of ‘it’s a quarter to eleven and off we go..’( Tuam Beat) from Míceál, how he built his jail Lego set while singing ‘go down you murderer, go down!’ About how he told his brother Niall he was so lucky because his birthday is the day after Christy Moore’s (8th May). But seeing the thousands of messages about how everyone else loves you too is brilliant. I just hope it’s not an irritation!
And, I will continue to say thank you forever more. Not for the stir it’s caused on the internet; that will be old news soon, but for making a boy’s wildest dream come true. You did that.
Christy's reply
I first sang in public when I was about Mícéal’s age..as a boy soprano I sang “Kevin Barry”amd “The Meeting of The Waters” at various local concerts…65 years on the feeling still lingers…
best wishes to you all in Mullaghabawn
Dear Christy
I had the pleasure of seeing you invite a young lad to sing with you yesterday and I thought ‘a gentleman’ reminded me of seeing you in Albert Hall years ago, sending a thank you and received a thank you from you, now safely stored, but confirms ‘a gentleman’. I remember thinking, how could someone with so many fans take the time to hand write a thank you to me.
Sorry I can no longer travel home, saw you in Tullow sometime back. Long May you continue in good health and entertain us. I am a lifelong fan.
God Bless and all good wishes

Hello Christy,
Thank you for talking about the first Liam O’Flynn festival. I didn’t know it was happening.
I listen to Liam Og every day. If you want to learn something, it’s good to learn from the very best…
Dearbhla. Your son’s great musical experience now features on RTE’s page. Find it under ‘entertainment’. Those bragging rights. He can now say forever afterwards, “I sang with Christy Moore.” Sorry, I got his name incorrect in an earlier post. Good on ya Miceal!
Hi Christy.
I am a long time fan saw you over the years including New Zealand in 1997.
Our last time seeing you was in the City North hotel in March 2020 just before Covid hit.
My 2 sons and Husband are all fans of yours and play guitar. My son Kevin turned 18 on 4th Oct and loves your music. We are booked to see you in Dundalk on Friday 18th November He would be really excited if you could play Beeswing for him if possible. I know you probably have loads of requests so only if you can.
Regards,
Maeve, Ivan, Kevin and Donnacha Hevey, Slane. We will also have my mother in llaw Mary Hevey with us.
Christy's reply
some nights Maeve the requests can be in great demand..I put them in the hat and pull a few out..more nights I get so carried away I cant remember anything except what I’m singing..Carrickdale is always a hot gig in every way so make sure drink plenty of water
Well Christy,
Any sign of coming over to London for a wee show next year?
Would love for the ould English wife to see you live. We used The Voyage as our wedding song during a low key event during the covid years!
Keep her lit,
Stephen

I’ve read Derbhla’s post plus looked at the Twitter clip. I love those lines where he said dreams do come true. Indeed. Young Martin’s year has been made, never mind a day or night. To sing and being prompted and the big man on guitar accompanying and singing ‘Nancy Spain’ with him, he’ll treasure the memory, a fan since he was three we gather. I see ‘No time for Love’ got an airing in Armagh on Thursday night. Lovely to hear those clips of Liam Og.
Hi Christy,I have a recurring dream that I am belting out “Quinta Brigada” in a packed, sweaty Barrowlands. Please make my dream come true.

not in the immediate Joe but possible long term if the body holds up…I can hear the favourite Glasgow Rogan Josh from here..and I can smell the waft of barrowland…..
Christy.
My name is Dearbhla Bennett. You gave my son, Míceál your plectrum last night in the Armagh City hotel, and asked him up onstage to sing with you.
I can’t properly put into words what you’ve done.
Christy, I have videos of Míceál singing Beeswing at 3 years old. He’s grown up with your songs as both my husband and I were avid fans even before we met. You so kindly replied to both letters he wrote you but that didn’t even scratch the surface – he’d written you 3 more that we couldn’t send as they were heading into Eoin McLove territory!
Santie brought him tickets to see you in Vicar St in January this year. He got Covid just before it and his last day of isolation was the day before the concert but he spent the 10 days petrified that he’d still test positive but he didn’t, he went and he was just in awe of you.
We got him tickets for last night’s concert for his birthday, and he a bought tickets for your 11th November Carrickdale gig with his birthday money.
I could go on, but I don’t want to waste your day!
Christy, we’re still shaking from last night. Míceál can barely function. He woke up this morning, wearing only his boxers and a Magic Nights monkey hat, and his first words were ‘dreams do come true’.
Nothing I can say here or anywhere can express how he feels about you, but I just need you to know the impact you have on him, and that last night was the pinnacle of his life.
My Daddy passed away on 2nd February and for Míceál, 2022 will now be known as the worst – and now best – year of his life, thanks to you.
If you’re reading this, just…. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
From the mother of your biggest fan,
Dearbhla.

Dear Míceál,
First of all, please thank your mother for the lovely letter she posted this morning..
and thank you for coming up on stage last night and singing “Nancy Spain” with me. I’ll get it posted up here soon as…. sorry to hear that you lost your Grandad in Feb……his spirit was alive in you last night..you will always carry his love in your heart…
Its 60 years now since I lost my Grandad Jack Power..I think of him most days and stiil hold him in my heart..I have two Grandchildren myself now…Thanks Be
My good Companero Liam Óg Ó Flynn….we miss him over here but his music still resounds in our hearts…there was an inaugural “Liam Óg Ó Flynn Festival” held in his memory last weekend in Naas, County KIldare….by all accounts it was a great success..sadly I could not be there due to prior commitments….maybe next year, if it runs again…Thank you for posting his “Johnny O’Dwyer of The Glen”…..I stood beside him manys the night, enthralled by his majestic playing, as he sent this wonderful slow air out into the night….his solo spot was always a highlight of the night for Donal,Andy and I….hearing it again this morning is a great start to this day..
now he’s after haring off into “The Gold Ring” and all its glorious parts…his chanter lepping, his drone constant, his regulators employed with beautiful precision….though he has gone on ahead of us, his music brings him back to life one more time…this perfect Piping…there is ecstacy in the air
Christy Moore you are one amazing man. Just home from your gig in the City Hotel and I want to say you are singing, playing and entertaining as well as ever. Thanks for singing Johnny Boy. Love the way you formed it from another song. Some great older songs on the set list which was great. An incredible version of No Time for Love. Thank you for coming to Armagh and sharing your talent with us tonight. Best wishes as always.
