Hi Christy,
A scots lad that i know is travelling the world, he sent me clips from taking part in the kuala lumpur gaelic games! Then he sent me the great box set’s Lawless.
Tis a great choice, a great story and a great song, another of those dialogues with yourself that you master so well.
Well in
Rory

I once played against the Kuala Lumpur GAA Junior B’s…we were lucky to escape with a narrow victory…..3-19 to 2-17……
That’s a different song, Bourkey. (Lakes of Ponchatrain)
Yes, that’s a line I liked and it always got a good laugh, “selling lambs balls to mushroom farmers who couldn’t afford horse shyte….” I hope I’ve those lines quoted right.
Christy's reply
Is that a Shakesperean spelling of Shite or is it an Athlone derivation….maybe you dont give a shight ..which is how wee spelt it……
Hi Christy
Remembering those gigs in CJs towards the end of the eighties. One of the highlights every night was Me and the Rose. It hadn’t been recorded then and there would always be a new line added or an old one thrown away. My favorite
“I was selling lambs balls to mushroom farmers that
couldn’t afford horseshite.”
Let his Bobness tackle that next November. Now young Míceál nearly broke the interweb with his fine singing of Nancy Spain. But himself singing Me and the Rose might finish the job.
You recorded it on King Puck and be god you freckling nailed it.
Those last three verses. Off to Slatterys…like throwing cold water into a barrel of sawdust…meeting outside the GPO and her sashaying down the boulevard in her docs and her 501s…Off to the Garda club for a dance…did you ever wonder what they did with all the hash…back to her place and it starts to get hazy a blue dog and a sick nun Daniel O Donnell singing No Fun. Now tell us did you enjoy the rasher sandwich ?
All the best

Afternoon from a glorious sunny Todmorden.
I am really happy to have got tickets to the Vicar Street gigs in January as I tried to plan for.
It’s a year later than we thought because of restrictions.
I really wanted to be at Vicar Street in particular being from Dublin and first seeing Christy in Dublin a life time ago.
I love Vicar Strret as a venue and was lucky enough to see Freddie White and Mary Coughlin there while home on holiday in the past.
For me, there is nothing that can compare with live music and I agree with many others that the restrictions of the pandemic have probably made many of us appreciate it even more.
Fingers and everything crossed for Vicar Street in 2023.
Theresa
Pardon my ignorance Christy…is there a gig venue coming up where you haven’t played before?
Also, I see the sold out signs everywhere & wonder if it’s mainly fans who’ve followed you or new faces in the crowds.
You say you’ll stick with Europe for a while – well, Australia entered Eurovision Song Contest so we must be part of Europe… hope to see you at the Mildura Performing Arts Centre soon..
Hi Christy,
Me and the Rose, perhaps your greatest story ( might even out bid Joxer), i bet there would have been a few stories in that blue box van decades ago mind you.
The North wall, south african, the star for not cursing, daniel’s new cd…glorious.
Keep on keeping on with the yarns.

That Kildare bishop could well be required to ensure shoals of fish arrive. Those poor Irishmen got last place in that fishing competion. (Have you any influence with that Bishop in Kildare?!)
‘Gandhi’s Revenge’. I’ve heard of ‘Delphi Belly’ before when that Indian food starts moving faster!
Dear Christy
Thanks for your reply-Albert Hall was an introduction to Indian relatives who have since followed you religiously.
I think I saw a gig in Tullow for August 2023, if so and my body holds up I will hopefully be at Mount Wolseley with my brother who lives there.
Keep well and entertaining us all

I tried a Vindaloo the last time I played in Tullow…Mother of Jasus but I suffered Gandhi’s Revenge the following morning…thankfully, there was a toilet roll in the fridge overnight which helped cool the situation

Bloody hell christy your concerts seem to be right kick arse affairs judging by the rants’n’raves here!
You must be smiling from ear to rear…
I will be maple left soon & jetting home to a waterlogged Mildura.
Canadians have that quiet smile of “yes I know” when you tell them how beautiful you find their country – as did some Irishmen in Killarney some years ago when I made the same observation
Let your love for good fairness guide you CM & the rest will flow & follow
Still hoping to catch you live at your peak before you perhaps go chasing the almighty dollar in Vegas- I can see the gold sequinned cape if I squint hard enough

Hi I was at the two shows in the waterfront, Belfast and at the Armagh show last Thursday night.
Loved every moment especially when the wee boy sang along with Christy in Armagh.
I’ve rarely missed a show when it’s come north and have been to some Dublin shows.
My son is a massive fan too.
Believe me I’d be at the second show in Armagh if I could get tickets.
So a big thank you Christy for the music and the craic.

Thanks for all your support and feedback MaryMc….the run of recent gigs have been uplifting…I think I’ve hit a good patch of late…I seem to be in a very different head space of late…very at home with the audience…56 years of giggig has prepared me for the current run…Hopefully we’ll get a few more years before the final curtain…the recent Northern gigs have been very special

Hello Christy,
I’m wondering if the lock down has made more of us realise how precious live gigs are.
I’m also wondering whose going to get a go at being prime minister today. Its like musical chairs in there…
I’m posting my favourite song today.

Hello Christy,
“The Rose and I”….??
What’s all this grammar all of a sudden.
Crusty Muir, “…. And it’s Morricamby and Wise…!”
Flamingos and squirrels. It’s as good a title as Petfood.
