Back home there’s cricket in cloughjordan…..
And why not when ireland beat england at the cricket world cup today.

no doubt ,its a great game, but I never came to grips with it..I know I’ve missed out on a mighty sport but the hurlin has me by the short and curlies.. I sat beside Ian Botham once from London to Sydney ( Quantas up front)..he let on not to know me..prob because I had two hurlin sticks in my overhead locker
Fair play John.
It’s a disgrace but not a surprise that they got it.
Haven’t a notion of watching a minute of it.
But like most I’ll be back watching the premiership after the crimbo. And to be honest it’s getting harder to square that circle.
Christy's reply
Fast forwarding all the interviews and punditry it makes for a good 40 min programme..a programme of two halves
Well Christy,in less than a month the ‘beautiful games’ biggest tournament (the 2022 World Cup) kicks off in a country where Flogging & Stoning are legal punishments and the death penalty is still in place for being gay. The stadiums were built by migrant workers payed £1/hour, 6,500 of which have died since Qatar won its Word Cup Bid back in 2010. But FIFA say “don’t worry because our multi millionair fooballers are going to wear rainbow armbands”, whilst ordinary fans are banned from making any form of political protest. The only winners in the 2022 Word Cup will be GREED and CORRUPTION. I have been an active football supporter for over 55 years but plan a one man boycott next month, it will probably go unnoticed but doese anyone fancy joining me?
Christy's reply
I’m with you John..I’ll do my own little bit..its really hard to take…they have pulled it off..we still throng to watch the Premiership no matter how the Club funds are sourced..the World Cup in Quatar is an utter disgrace….all those whose votes were bribed into submission by corruption, slaughter and exploitation will surely suffer the Karma that will, one day, track them down…
I hold me hands up..I still watch MOTD..its a 50 year habit…I still root for the”well paid” underdogs…. fr many of my Geordie friends happy to see Newcastle up there but nauseated by the regime that sponsors them….hope to see Sunnerland back where they belong…hate what happened at Gigg Lane, an old stomping ground in my black pudding days..
when I see those diamond-eared mercenaries clutch whatever crest they wear it almost turns me off completely…fair play to Cantona
Hi christy

Is it right or left for the Opera House
Christy any chance you could play Brendan the Navigator for our newborn daughter Íta? We will be there with the godparents celebrating her arrival.

Christy's reply
Don O’Leary will be calling all the shots that night…but theres every chance he might be a “St Brendan” man himself….he certainly is a fount of wisdom, compassion and good vibrations
Cheers for the reply Christy. The doors to Mags McIvor’s is always open for you. The East Tyrone boys will make our pilgrimage to the City on the Clyde as and when the show is announced. Tickets might be scarce 👌
Hi Christy,
We’re looking forward to seeing you in the orchard county. Had a read through earlier comments and hope the Tyrone Boys will be in full flight on Thursday night. As I’m sure you know Armagh and Tyrone are big football rivals but I’ve no doubt you’ll balance the books! Go well
You’ve missed out St Brendan’s Voyage.
The man himself who found Australia.
Did you know that Honolulu was found by a Kerryman,
Who went on to find Australia then China and Japan.
When he was touchin’ 70, he began to miss the crack,
Turnin’ to his albatross he sez “I’m headin’ back”.
Rory, try some Chad Morgan “the sheikh of scrubby creek” for Aussie music – real old fashioned dinky di stuff – or newish Paul Kelly “From Little things big things grow”
I see Boris has declined a comeback – obviously he knows Labour gonna kick their arse anyway
Rory.
Not from the Christyman’s songbook but …
The wild colonial boy by The Clancy’s
Botany Bay by Makem and Clancy
Pub with no beer by The Dubliners
Waltzing Matilda by The Pogues
And Highway to Hell by Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band
