Hi Rebeccah,
Thank you for your efforts to help me finding the sheet music of The Voyage composed by Johnny Duhan.
I tried to get it by Amazon (not in stock). I contacted a company in England (delivery complicated). Even a friend in New Ross could not help me. For this moment I give up.
In April I’ll visit Ireland for a fortnight. Then I do an other attempt.
Thank you again!
Harry

If you get the first verse going in New Ross the Yellowbellies will carry you over the line….its a great town for song & music…..but not great at naming bridges
There’s been a lot of tries from hookers recently though.
At a local game the ball went off the pitch and no one in the pack stopped. The ref said, stop! There’s no ball on the pitch. The tight head said, bugger the ball, let’s get on with the game.
Glad Brighouse is still welcome in Europe. Pretty sure most of us here have disowned England.
A couple of sets of bones landed here yesterday. I’m having fun doing a bit of rattling while my voice gets back to full strength.
Hope those lovely songs flutter by and make friends with you.
You’ve hit the nail on the nail on the head Bourkey
thats where I first heard Barney Rush sing “Nancy Spain” & “The Crack was 90 in The Isle Of Man”
55 years ago…I was only a gasún…with a horrid thirst on me
Kenny’s of Lahinch…Brill.
I am looking forward to seeing Luka in Düsseldorf in April. My mate Barry O’Farrell from Prosperous got the tickets for us. Maybe Luka will bring Anne, and she can perform Be Still Now for us?
I love Anne’s story of Barry giving her a loan of a guitar for 50 years on condition she plays it every day!
I also like this wee video of the two of them.
Christy, next time yis all come together for a family chat and sing song, get your lad Andy III busy recording the sing along. That would be a world wide best seller of all time! Maith a’ fear, slán go fóill.

good man Pat…just back from West Clare..listened to my Sister Anne’s new album yesterday..”The Golden Thread” it made for a grand trip back to Dublin
I have often thought about contacting you somehow over the years and didn’t know how. I wanted to express my gratitude to you for your music being in my family’s life. Literally my whole family! Let me explain…
I’m in my 40’s living in Brisbane, from London, with Irish parents. Myself and 4 siblings all grew up listening to you over and over again, our Mum is a huge fan. My brother and sister are brilliant singers and always have plenty of Christy songs lined up for her haha.
Her Father (Kildare man – Caragh) was a wonderful singer and would often get asked to sing songs in the pub (not just at the end of the night!). He was a true gentlemen and had the most wonderful voice. We were told of a story from many moons ago when he was younger and in the pub up at the bar in Robertstown singing a song and a tin whistle unexpectedly accompanied him from somewhere else in the pub. When finished Grandad went to thank the player and it was yourself!
My first concert I went to was yours, at the Forum in Kentish Town. I would have been about 14. My uncle was supposed to bring my Mum, but he didn’t turn up and my Dad would not go with her. So, I went instead so she would go. We were late getting in, ended up sitting on the floor and had the best night listening to you. Saw you again many times over the years before I left for Australia. Have seen Luka here but was always waiting for you to tour down under!
My mum and her brother, who were very close, would always sing a beautiful version of Bright Blue Rose together. He died unexpectedly 4 years ago, he was only in his 50’s. She sang it by herself for the last time at his wake. Hasn’t sang it since. Every birthday I send her one rose sprayed blue (the florists must think I’m mad!).
I have 3 sons living here in Brisbane, who all know your music and take me off singing my favourite song – Beeswing! When Mum comes to visit us, she brings the Christy CDs for the car trips!! My 13-year-old is learning to play Beeswing on his guitar for me.
So, you see, you have influenced 4 generations of my family and I wanted to let you know that you are appreciated and loved.
I am coming home for a holiday in March after a long 4 years of not being able to visit. I saw you are gigging and wanted to bring my Mum, but tickets are all gone ☹ I would love to know how to buy re-sale tickets please?! Good luck with the shows.
All the best and thank you for your talent, Michelle

Thanks for sharing Michelle…your email brings me back to many places…knew Caragh well in my hay day..often cycling out for Moorefield games against Caragh Raheens….Robertstown and environs was also on the radar back in the day…the Forum in Kentish Town was one of my favourite London venues..always hot and rockin….anytime I played Brisbane I always encountered Kildare people..is it my imagination or is Brisbane a destination for Lilywhites…. I remember meeting members of the Costello family from Newbridge..it was great to see them again…always a joy to hear about younger listeners getting into the songs..your 13 year old learning the chords for Beeswing !! I’m still struggling to find chords myself !! but its always worth the struggle !!

Morning Christy,
The rugby is nearly upon us, Finn is readying the book of audacity, i have been searching for my call up letter but its got lost in the post.
Young Farrel has been to tackle school ( again) , whilst the latest welsh coach tries to coax a bit of jpr and gareth out of his lads and the italians try not to implode ceasar-like and provide a shock, the french scrumhalf prepares to dazzle and amaze while farrel senior rubs embrocation into the necks of bundee and caelan.
What a feast we have in store, i hope you are getting to warm up the lads in Dub, i have tickets for italy and the championship decider v Ireland at murrayfield.
Max Boyce will need to teach you a rugby song, whilst we all chortle , and then get the dander up with this…. https://youtu.be/WIpu1Kmhq94

Hi Christy ,
hope you are keeping well man .
I heard today the sad news about Wally, he was the real deal Holyfield. I first became of aware of his name through the booklets of your records , when searching the writers names of the songs that really stood out for me as a kid . Later I met him at one of his gigs and got talking to him , he offered me support slot the following month on his return to Belfast . Wally later invited me to play with him at the annesley house and put me up on his couch . I don’t know if it was pity on a young fella starting out or just plain kindness but I will never forget the warmth of the man who didn’t need to do that , but did. He took the time to talk to me about his songs , how he wrote them , where he wrote them and gave me their back stories . We played a few times after that and every time we would meet, you received the biggest warmest Wally hug . I told him once , I thought he was the greatest songwriter ever to come out of Ireland and I still think that.. He knew how to bounce them words off each other like an old time pool player doing a trick shot until they complimented each other back and fourth . The bullets from the barrel of the bosses gun,… , and when you fight you go kamikaze-, You could smell the cigar smoke when he sang chico mendes.
His writing had style boy..
he wrote – nothing beautiful lasts forever , and he was right but his songs will.
Half Shakespeare , Half big lebowski , All heart! .
