Hi Christy I’ve just now listened to you on the two Norries Podcast. I’ve never been to one of your concerts so after listening to you I thought I’d book, very naive of me! They’re all booked out. Do you have any plans to add further dates and what’s the best way to find out about them in good time to make a booking. I live in Belfast but no problems travelling a bit. Thank you and thank you for sharing on the podcast it really means a lot.

Christy's reply
there will two dates in Belfast later in the year if all goes according to plan….if you sign up for the newsletter and /or keep an eye on the Waterfront website you should be able to get sorted…
I enjoyed meeting up with James & Timmy….their Two Norries Podcast has been a great help over the past 3 years…
Once saw Liam O’Maonlai do a show where the Leonard Cohen songbook was sang in Irish – Magic night.
Christy's reply
I met Liam once at Dublin Airport…he was heading out on a US tour with his Band…everyone had suitcases, briefcases and all the usual..Liam had a toothbrush in his shirt pocket and nothing else…Top Man is our Liam,he sure knows how to travel “light”
many years ago I did a gig in Whelan’s Dublin, a fund raiser, I did two songs with Liam and Glen Hansard ..he played piano on Little Musgrave….it was a long time ago but I still sense the beauty of what he played that long ago night…..
I’m hearing great reports from his recent solo gigs
Fair play Christy looks like you are ready to rock and I m thinking if you ever throw in the towel at the music there has to be a role for you in coaching with that kind of passion you could get a job with any Under 8 team
Ground hurling
Christy's reply
no way Iggy..coachin aint for me…I hope to disappear over the hill in a cloud of high octane smoke…
The Bothies surely rocked the boat….45 years ago I made manys the journey to witness the magic of their music….to Scariff, Durham,Paris,The Meeting Place,Lisdoonvarna, Ballisodare and elsewhere…..when that full forward line kicked into a set of reels anything could happen, when the second row dug down deep we were all carried away into by the glorious sound of The Bothy Band
Hello Christy,
I’m listening to lots of new things right now. Thanks to John of Liverpool for posting about Liam O’Maonloi, he set me off https://youtu.be/KFlHO3r9UBk

Morning Christy,
Getting the butterflies for Thur night. My 1st gig of yours since before ‘The Covid’ and my 9 year olds 2nd.. he was only 5 at the 1st one – in the Mullingar Park aswell. He’ll be better able to stick the pace this time.
See you soon – cant wait x
Christy's reply
I’m looking forward to getting back to work myself….
I booked flight tickets for my husband’s Birthday to come to Mullingar Park Hotel on the 2nd of March as you are his favourite artist but unfortunately when tried to book tickets was sold out 😫 Is anything you can help please? Thank you!
Morning Christy,
Valentine’s day means Stardust really. Glad that you keep singing it, and of Dunnes Stores, and of the 15th brigade, and of Veronica, and sacho and vanzetti, of yellow triangle and the birmingham six, the list goes on.
The ‘protest’ song is timeless and necessary.
Thanks
Rory
Christy's reply
it began when I heard Ewan MacColl….the realisation that songs could be contemporary….
Hi, Christy
Bob Trumpy, a 6’6″ retired American footballer calling a match 40 years ago, said to his colleague he had been to big Gaelic football, Rugby, and Aussie rules matches overseas, and Gaelic football was the toughest sport in the world. He didn’t get to expound, but I suppose he was taking strength, stamina, eye/hand/foot coordination into account. We just had our final here. You didn’t miss anything. One of your box set discs was up on the car CD changer while I was on way to watch. You always travel well.
Christy's reply
I’ve never witnessed American Football live, I dont understand the machinations…I did enjoy a few games of Aussie Rules down under …I believe our GAA game has deteriorated as a spectacle, the modern approach and tactics turning it into handball/football….Rugby remains my favourite ball game… but if its eye/hand/foot coordination you seek, look no further then our National Game…..Hurling is an awesome spectacle…
I never miss MOTD soccer on the box, it brings me back to my time across the water in the 1960s….but revealations of bribery and corruption, the staging of the World Cup in Qatar, the antics of certain super star players have lessened the authenticity of what I once enjoyed..
Thanks for feedback on the songs
…..
Hi Christy, I was lucky enougth to get to the Transatlantic Sessions at the Phil’ last week, one of the (many) highlights was this https://youtu.be/-T8-y3Aj530 by Liam O’Maonlai. You can beat a bodhran but you can’t beat a bit of didgeridoo ?
Christy's reply
Liam continues to deliver those magic moments….his approach and work practice is unique….since first hearing him with The Benzini Brothers on Grafton Street 35 years ago I’ve remained a listener….
Hi Christy..jumping in to wish you well for the upcoming run of gigs..always a great buzz even as a listener to see what songs might surface..to notice the subtle changes to some..to read comments from those far and near on this platform..and to be privileged enough to be able to attend some of the gigs. Continued good health to yourself and the crew. P.S Loved the podcast with The Two Norries.. a spring of well water if ever there was.. Kev
Christy's reply
Good man Kevin….anticipation mounting as a new season approaches…some new verses to slip in…some old ballads getting a fresh lick of paint….nervousness tinged with excitement….looking forward to seeing the crew ….to hearing the audience assemble,to the lights going down as we step once more into the temple of song
I wonder if you were receiving TV from the Emley Moor Mast near here in Huddersfield. Its a massive thing that you can see from everywhere round here.
When I was in the girl guides we had a weekend up there and walked up to the mast one perishing, windy evening. I had a sore throat for two weeks. Apart from that it was great. We slept in bunk beds, 6 to a room and learnt basket weaving and how to make mini rocking chairs out of pegs.
Christy's reply
I once went to the Boy Scouts..left after 10 minutes
Yes , Mike Hardings tv show in the late 70s or early 80s was on BBC 2 I think ….midweek….songs , jokes and stories….
Mike sang Waltzing Matilda on one of the shows , first time I had heard Eric Bogles song.
We could get to see the “English Channels “as we got the signal from the “North”.
Christy's reply
we had one channel….the six five special coming down the line
Hello Christy,
I’m shocked with the Knowsley thing. And I’m glad I’m shocked. December 1942 tells us what it’s like when some people are not shocked any more.
There’s always a need to be demonising some poor person.
Years ago there were a lot of Serbs and Croats arrived in this area, fleeing the war. My Mum got involved teaching them English.
“problem” is the same word in Serbo—croat and English.
I think “beauty” is the same word in Irish and English?
The people my Mum taught turned up at her funeral in December.
They like to drink very strong coffee.
Christy, your friend should have taken home their shirt and sweater and squeezed them out and strained out the ‘expensive lager’ and drank it. It does become a drag at big matches, people traipsing in and out carrying pints. IRFU in apparent hot water on Facebook pages. A few people photographed empty wheelchair spaces at the game and were wondering. The IRFU in a somewhat no win situation here. If an incapacited person has reserved a space and then doesnt turn up…. I dont know. Not an easy one.
I too recall a Mike Harding programme on TV. Who produced it and did RTE show it? Mike would yap on with amusing anecdotes (witty), and sing songs, a warm funny character shone through. I think he’d have guests.
