Sligo was on fire last night.
A lively crowd for sure. The Hazelwood was fantastic and Johnny Jump Up came out of the blue ….. how do you do it ??
78 is not doing you any harm at all…..

that was some nuisance of a gasún along the row from you….i know twas excitement linked with exhibitionism ( I recognise these qualities ! ) He was bustlin me but I was half enjoyin the bold brat…the only harm in him was hangin out of him….4711ers showed great patience towards him..at times I feared for his safety….
Thank you both for your ongoing support
Liosban Industrial estate. They’re a while there but I miss the city centre shop. Called to Tigh Neachtans on my last trip. A place “Murphys” on Quay Street has reopened I gather. We’ll put it on the list for next visit. Charlie Byrnes great. I must find this Bell Book and Candle shop.
Who mentioned ‘rawmashin’?
Kenny’s new location is off the beaten path.
It’s now in the Liosban Ind Est.
But it’s well worth a visit along with Charlie Byrnes, Bell, book and candle, The Crane, Taffes, MP Walshes, Tigh Coili
Nice piece you found R. The Blaskets Islands left behind a great heritage.
Kennys: They’ve a v good online presence. I dont know about a ‘new’ bookshop. The Galway High Street bookshop still missed.
Deep inside we all inspire to be like Christy. His beliefs his life experience his vision his ability to recognise the normal people his true unfiltered expression of music.you are a true legend of Irish folk and take me away to another level when you sing. Thanks Christy

I am a woman from the Fairies
Who has come over the waves
And I was taken at night
For a while abroad
And I am in this state
Under spell of the fairy woman
And I will not be in this world
Until the cock crows
And I must go
Into the fairy fort
It is no pleasure for me
But I must do it
And all that is in this life
Must leave it
But I will be weeping
As long as water remains in the wave
And have no dealings
With the crowd that is down in the fairy fort…

I am looking forward to being in Galway this September. I hope to see some of the art and sculpture in Kenny’s.
Ciara Nolan from Belcoo, Fermanagh is attending her first gig of yours, she finished school on Friday and this is her last outing before she completes her A levels. Please play Tippin it up to Nancy. Many thanks
The good folk at Kenny’s bookshop have done a mighty renovation job in their new abode. It’s been awhile since they moved from the High St. (You did a book signing of One Voice there back in the day) They brought the portraits of the great and the good with them. And who’s that on the wall beside Edna O Brien ? Only The Christy Man. Well worth a visit when you’re back West in September. Enjoy the cabaret in Sligo town.

a visit to Galway always included calling into Kenny’s Book Shop and Gallery….many happy hours rawmaishing, looking, listening….time moved on, we seldom meet now but good memories linger…40 years on I see mementos every day…one particular piece was out in the back yard..I used to call in and sit and look at it…Tom says to me “you should buy that”…I told him I could not afford it…he solved it by giving me 18 months to pay for it…I see it and touch it every day….The Atrium by John “Blackie” Cohen
Sad news today of the passing of Joe Mulheron. His bar – Sandinos – was/is a place where many free thinking people would be found and he attracted some great musical talent. He was also a member of the band “Men of no Property” and writer of “The lid my granny’s bin” amongst others.

“scream bang shout, rattle up your bin
let The Army know girls the brits is comin in”
We’d see Joe every year at The Frank Harte Festival..he’s always have a rattlin good song to sing…
Very sad to read of the passing of Sean Keane, ace fiddle player, notably with The Chieftains…a great guy and top musician. I saw several Chieftains concerts years back and greatly admired Sean’s playing. Very apt that the recent Ballina set for Biden’s visit received such acclaim.
Loads of excellent online tributes to Sean. None better than the lead piece at http://www.itma.ie
RIP Sean Keane

Had the good fortune in life to have met Sean Keane over the past 50 years…always a pleasure to be in his company, always a joy to hear his masterful playing…Sean took the music to a particular, personal, magical place …
we send our condolences to his loving Family and to his good companeros Kevin and Matt
HAPPY Birthday week! Sure you might as well milk it…
What’s the story with the old EC one “The Deportee Club” do you ever blast that one out these days?? Its a banger
Please sing MATTIE in Castlebar on 28th Oct ……getting my request in early for my next trip out West to hear u again.
Hello Christy,
Lovely sunny morning and I’m on my way into Halifax. Running a stand at the Town Hall. It’s an event on how to deal with stress. The stand is a computers stand. No one else seems to have seen the irony in this. Maybe we’re there as a warning of what not to do.
Hi Christy,
Today driving cross country to Kilmarnock i was listening to the Live in Dublin with Jimmy and Donal album, i was on a road i had never before driven.
On came By Clyde’s Bonnie Banks , and found myself a handful of miles from High Blantyre herself.
Kind of spooky coincidence , good song, great album ,again it sounded like you enjoyed recording it.

Hi C. I see that the docu on Lyra is on TG4 on Weds at 21.30 it should be available globally if not, live certainly on the player https://fb.watch/kq3Zj750RO/ Also it’s been great following Saol Ella on Thurs afternoon with the mac bán eile Colm Seoighe on TG4 freisin. Safe travelling all to Yeats country. Beir bua agus beannacht. H
Just a quick shout out to wish you a very happy birthday from all your fans in Ardfinnan. Any notion of coming back to Clonmel for a gig. It’s been so long since you were down this way.
Enjoy the birthday, I guess we will just have to stick on a few CD’s to keep us going.
Finbarr, that’s a mighty menu, are you trying to kill off the big Kildare balladeer on his birthday. Try me – but the carrot cake I’d pass on. (The mother in The Royle Family has a line, usually uttered as they’re eating dinner, about some item that quickly runs through her)
Great tune and choice Rebeccah.
