Thanks for your reply to the preceding post and query….when I set this site up 7 years ago this is precisely the interaction I hoped for…I recall that night in Germany when we played Little Musgrave…it was the final night of our last German Tour which was a very special time …..I am so relieved that last night’s gig went so well…I did not know how my voice was going to be…great too to get a couple of new songs out there..the audience were superb last night …thanks be to all who had to travel twice to one gig !
Many years ago my uncle, god rest him who was interred in Long Kesh, sent my mother a tape of Christy and I/we got to love it and have loved Christyever since. One of the songs was a story about a footman who loved the lady of the house and while the lord was away he and she fell in love and ran away. The end of the song has the lord tracking them down and killing them both. she was buried on top as she came from better stock. Anyone know the name of this song and where I could get a copy of it? I loved that song. Christy you are the best and been a privilage to have seen you in concert so many times over the years in Dublin, Tullamore and London. Good Health

Morra Mick…Hilary from Tralee has supplied every thing you ask for in the next post…perhaps your paths will cross when Royal and Kingdom next do meet
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my original question, with regards to the Peak District i’m in a town called Buxton in the High Peak area.
I know i asked a question regarding you possibly playing in the Sunderland Empire but due to having to move for work i had to move down here.
While i’m on the subject there’s a great little opera house down here where i think you’d go down a treat, it fits a few hundred people in and i think the accoustics would do you a treat.
Some of the acts appearing over the next few weeks are Heidi Talbot,Michael Chapman,Ginger Baker, Dick Gaughan, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham.
We’re up in the hills in the middle of the countryside slap bang between Sheffield and Manchester.
If you haven’t played here yet then it’s certainly worth considering for the future, even the Beatles did a couple of shows in the opera house.
All the best, Colin.
Christy's reply
Buxton Opera House has long been on my list but ,so far, has not worked out…I played a lot up around thon hills back in 66-72…I can recall freewheeling down towards Sheffield, very low in petrol, in my old VW. I bought it from a man called Harry in Nether Edge back in 1967 (£35 and a few Barley Wines ) First and Best car I ever had.
I’m sure you are aware of Pandora on the Web, that plays your music. But, I wonder if you’ve ever contacted them as to other artists they might play when your name is the Radio search. I would guess you haven’t, or they can’t play them for royalty rights or something like that. It is a great exposure for artists and for them to sell CD’s of course.
Hi Christy,
Will we ever see you play in the USA? My town Worcester has a perfect venue for you called The Hanover Theater. I know you would pack the house!
Jerry
Hi Christy,
All the best for tonight; the nerves will disappear as soon as you hit that stage.
Don’t forget the Coat & Cap………….. Its not the hottest venue in town !!
Hello Christy,
Hope you had a curing time and you could restore your voice.
Have had your moving song “Yellow Triangle” on mind recently when we attended an unusual concert that was held in commemoration of the Auschwitz liberation 68 years ago. The performance of Esther Bejarano, a Jewish lady advanced in years, was very touching. An awesome experience to hear Esther singing her “Lider far’s Leben” (Songs for Life) as she’s one of the last survivors of the Girls’ Orchestra of Auschwitz concentration camp. And I was thinking of an aphorism I read once “Music is the Healing Force of the Universe”.
Have a lovely St Bigid’s Day and enjoy the springtime!
Best of luck for your Grand Canal/Bord Gais gigs, Traudel

A Happy Biddy’s Day to you Traudel and to all songsters who visit these pages…I am nervous before tonights concert….my voice seems to be almost recovered but I do have frogs to evict before Declan and I commence in 8 hours time…I will call on Brigid to be with us

Hi Christy, Glad to hear your feeling better. Good luck with the re-scheduled gigs at the weekend, hope all goes according to plan. Sounds good….Mind you, I do like the howl of winters wind (from under the eiderdown)
Hi Christy
I saw you in Birmingham last year, great venue and the sound was mighty. Love the music, bought a guitar last year, struggling but really enjoying trying to learn a cupla songs. I was at an open mike night last month and had an Englishman (with no Irish ties) come up and asked me would I sing nancy Spain with him, he’s been a fan of yours for thirty odd years and boy could he sing it! I have penned a little ditty about the Kerry drink driving proposal, it’s to the tune of “back home in Derry” I hope you like and would be honoured if you developed it and sang it –
Last night I sat down, and I thought with a frown what is happening to our socialising?
It’s ok in the town you can always pop around to the pub or the dreaded off license
But out in the sticks, it’s not easy to mix, miles away from the few public houses
And you can’t take a chance, at a pub or a dance, they’ve ruined it those EEC lousers
They’ve closed the dance halls Tadghin stares at four walls and looks for a wife on d’computer
But the signal is bad, and he looks after dad, mammys gone he thought he’d never lose her
But now someone has spoke and the world has took note of the plight of the poor Kerry farmer
The Luther king of his day, hes Danny healy Rae and he runs a shmall pub in kilgarvan
Oo ooh life’s tough for the farmers in Kerry
Oooooh you can’t have few scoops down in Kerry
Now dans a shrewd lad, he knew business was bad, so he went and proposed a new motion!
Healy Rae would make a stand so the boys on the land would be free from this drink persecution
He said he had a dream, and his new farmers scheme would be governed by only factor,
To escape from the drag of blowing in to the bag you must go to the pub on your tractor
Now In cahirciveen theres a little shebeen and the farmers they visit there nightly
The barmaids bridgeen she’s an ex- beauty queen and she makes the ould fellas feel sprightly
On zetors they came down the small country lanes, after a day spreading ould fertiliser
They don’t mind at all that the squad cars on call and they don’t fear the ould breathalyser
Oooooh it’s great being a farmer in Kerry
Ohohh it’s great to get locked down in Kerry
Now life’s great for tadghin and he’s back on the scene as he tears in to town on his Massey
He has two or three, then he,s off to tralee where he has the pick of the lassies
Now outside all the bars you won’t see any cars, just John deeres, David browns and landinis
They’ve a license to kill and they probably will, so take care down the little boirinis
Ohhhh its great being a farmer in Kerry
Oohhh no one else is going out down in Kerry

The “Struggle with Guitar” is well worth the effort and the rewards are lifelong. I too stuggled for a spell at the beginning. 50 years on never a day passes without the pleasure of singing and playing, mostly in the quiet of my own work room.
Hi Christy, I’m afraid you will have to change the lyrics to ‘Weekend in Amsterdam’, Queen Beatrix has just announced that she’ll be abdicating soon, you’ll have to manage to put King Willem-Alexander in instead.
Christy's reply
Beatrix may give up the throne but keep the bike..
Hi Christy, Poor ole Bradley Manning in jail over 1000 days without trial now…anyway you could make his name/plight known would be super….love ur work. John
Christy's reply
Thank you for reminding us to think about Bradley….there is so much happening these times that it is easy to forget….he deserves our attention
Hi Christy,
I have a song that I believe would really suit you, its new, fresh and very catchy. I have it on cd but dont know where to send it. Could one of your team/manager get in touch with me so that I can post/email it. Everyone who has listened to it says it has “Christy” written all over it!
I can provide a PO box number if that would help. I dont mind if its not used all I want is for it to be listened to!
Best regards,
Stephen Coyle
