Hi Christy,
Thanks for your reply and good luck with the songwriting.
I have finally figured out how to get the song onto 4711ers. org.
I’m not very “techy.”
It’s called “Charge of the Light Brigade”
Thanks again.
Christy's reply
sound Woody, thanks for sharing the song. enjoyed hearing it…shine on
its the way that Billy tells them…the stories are true too and there were many more where they came from…we had some great times back then..there was great solidarity amongst the folkies, the Trad, the Revivalist, The Contemporary, The Comical, we all played the same clubs and slept on the same floors…Billy C, Gerry Rafferty, John Martyn, Pentangle,Barbara Dickson, The Clutha,The Macalmans, Hamish Imlach, Archie Fisher, Boys of The Lough, Isla St Clair, The Whistlebinkies, Jimmy Hutchison, Paddie Bell,Danny Kyle,Rab Noakes were some of the Folk I knew in Scotland…Belle Stewart, Jeannie Robertson, Jimmy McBeath,Hamish Henderson, Ally Bean, Dave Goulder,Bill Barclay…( I’m having a sleepless night !) Great clubs too, St Andrews was legendary, Paisley, Kircaldy, Glasgow Folk Centre , Edinburgh Police Club, East Kilbride, Gourock, Aviemore, the Nuclear Station in Dounreay, Thurso had a club (where the power failed when I played) I flew from London to Inverness sitting beside Roy Wood of The Move (who did not think that we had anything in common ) The Festival of Blairgowrie was a great annual gathering which I attended twice.
Howdo Christo, any plans to play De Barras at all?
Christy's reply
Morra Hamish..De Barras is always a spontaneous combustion..some times it happens at a weeks notice..once it happened at 24 hours notice…thats the way its gotta be..Bobby and myself go way back… no plan at the moment but anything can happen when your “Living with Lynch”
I have a song i would love you to listen to. It is a co-write with an Edinburgh man called Cluny Sheeler and comes highly recommended by Mr Boo Hewerdine. Many people have said it would suit you including Mr. Noel Taylor of Rockit Music Management. I sang it at “The Songwriters Club” meeting in the Teachers Club Parnell Square a few months back and he immediately said Christy Moore. I didn’t know him up until then.
If you would like to hear it could you kindly let me know where to send it.
Many Thanks

Dear Christy – Are you and Declan coming to London this year? We are desperately waiting for our annual fix and need to know if we have to get to Ireland or not (though maybe Wales is easier). Hope you are keeping well.
Christy's reply
..we hope to return to London early 2014 if all goes well…we will post dates here in the next month or so….all well here today so far..going to see Ireland v England at rugby today, always an exciting prospect…thank you for your good wishes
Christy I have meant to put this up for you over a year ago. It a short video of my young boys singing Hey Ronnie Reagan. They are Shane 4 and Darragh 7 in the video and you met Darragh at your Limerick Concert and sang this for him. Regards http://youtu.be/oThlDccd7JY
Christy's reply
Dear Shane and Darragh….Up Tipp….Sound Ballyporeen…keep it going…
Hi Christy,
An Irishman by the name of John Lovett from Dublin introduced me to your singing and I fell in love with you! Oops! When I heard “The First Time..” I had to go out and buy it! Anyway, we just heard a song that blew us away and I looked at John and said “I can hear Christy singing this song! and he agreed! So, we went straightaway to find if there was a way to ask you and found your website. Oh, we hope you will consider singing it, because it is so you! It’s sung acopella to a poem written called “Songs of the Dove” by the woman who wrote it. There is no background music to it yet, but I am sure you could supply that and do wonders with it! Go to the website: http://peace-trails.com/category/sound-samples-mp3s and click on ‘I mould my heart’ from ‘Songs of the Dove’. It starts off: “I mould my heart into a cup…” Bless you! Is there any way of letting us know what you think of it and if you will do it?!

Christy's reply
I tried to access and failed, I’m knee deep in composition at this time…like you, I fell in Love with Elvis when I heard Jailhouse Rock back circa 1959…then when I visited him in Memphis I realised it was the song that I loved..sure we got on well together and our voices did blend but he was much older then me and he had it made…I was only starting out…..what I might think is not nearly as important as what you do think..best wishes
hi christy. first heard your music 20 years ago, while working as a volunteer in israel; was lent a tape by a friend, brendan from ballymore eustace. top man! the tears rolled down when i heard the first track, “ordinary man.” feel as if your music has been there like an old friend ever since. thanks for playing, christy. looking forward to your gig in rhyl in may. mikeybaby
Christy's reply
it seems so far away but , in a blink, twill be upon us and then we’ll be ready to roll
Hi Christy
Been planing our trip to Ireland for the last few months and noticed you had a concert planed for the 17th May! Wow we were going to be there then so had to rearrange our itinerary to include Dundalk! My husband has been a big fan since his teen years in the 1970’s
Counting down the days
Cheers and See you in Dundalk
(I’ll be the one sitting next to the aussie bloke with the big grin on his face)
Christy's reply
from Oz all the way down to The Wee…thats where we will be…
Hi Christy i just want to ask you a favour. My father is one of your biggest fans and has been listening to your music since before i was born. Anyway He has been dying to go to ireland and he has eventually this year got the chance to go he has booked to see your show in Cork on the 6th July. is there any chance he could meet you after the gig just to say hi.
Hi Christy, We are travelling from New Zealand to visit Ireland (and other lovely places) later in the year and have tickets for your concert in Cork on 6th July. As dedicated fans we think it would be pretty special if you simply performed the whole of the tracks from your 81-91 Collection CD. Just joking – you don’t have to do them all, but most of them would be impressive! Hoping you can do something for us and really looking forward to the show.
Cheers, Muz & Sue
Hi Christy,
I have heard you say that nobody calls out for Joni Mitchell’s powerful Magdelene Laundries at your gigs. Hopefully that will change after today..Another horror story for sure…
Credit due to you Christy for keeping that song out there down the years…
Where would we be without the Writers,Singers & Songs….
Be Well RyanL
Good to see you back in action and the voice is back to its best. I would have suggested sucking on eggs and marrowbones to help you, but you’d probably end up with a white stick afterwards! Hillary is like Jimmy Magee, fair play to her! You mentioned below that it was the reason the site was set up for all this interaction, and fair play to you for answering all our posts! It is you…right? And not some call centre in the back of beyonds…!! God between us and all harm!
Hi Christy
Just wanted to say thanks for a great gig last night. Yourself and Declan were in flying form and the vibe was great. Thanks a million for your lovely dedication for Stevie – he was thrilled and you gave a brilliant rendition of
Nancy Spain.
Any chance of getting a copy of same for a treasured collection.
Thanks again.

Christy–
I am very happy to see you taking the stance you have on fracking.
I’ve been locked in a battle here in Northern Alberta with the AB Provincial and Canadian Federal Govts on the serious health concerns re fracking and mining of the Tarsands for oil. A documentary “Downstream” was made a few years ago on my involvement on behalf of Fort Chipewyan vs Big Oil and Gas. I was in Sligo a year ago talking on this topic. Limericks my hometown–been here in Canada since 1984. I’m a family doctor by trade.
You know the biggest issue around fracking is the fact that no Public Health physician has spoken out about it! It’s a fucking disgrace–sorry, my language has gone to the dogs since all this started for me here in 2006.
I’d love to talk with you, and update you.
I’m googleable. Another name, if you’ve time, to look up, is Dr Eilish Cleary.
Love your music, all you’ve done, and what you stand for–and, of course, yourself!
