Wonderful chat with Ronan today, and a lovely selection of songs to compliment your story, all in a very relaxed and laid back manner. Fantastic also to hear more new Songs emerging…..well done. We are in Fleadh mode here in the Midlands, Mullingar is thronged. An interesting piece of information I picked up over the weekend is that Liam O’Flynn competed in the very first Fleadh Cheoil which took place 1951 in Mullingar. Another competitor was our own Willie Reynolds, who too went on to be a famous piper. Next time you travel the road between Mullingar and Athlone , you might spot a monument to him near his home place of Walderstown.

I remember Liam Óg talking about Willie Reynolds…
when Planxty were on the road in the early days I recall many Musicians coming to meet and to hear Liam…Martin Rochford, Dan O’Dowd, Seamus Ennis, Dr Bill Loughnane,Willie Clancy to name but a few….even as a young man Liam’s playing was creating waves of interest and appreciation
Donal, Andy and I were very fortunate to have Liam Óg in our midst

Hello Christy,
The F below middle c is looking good. All shiny and I managed to do a neat job this time. It dropped a semitone in the first two hours. Could be a fourth by this morning.
Thanks to Bourkey for the wild and wonderful tip off about the Saw Doctors’ clip. Here it is https://youtu.be/mPDJSblJeMc
Lots of talk here about the Poet and the Piper. We were listening to it too on Saturday in the car. Steve is starting to learn Port na Puca. I’ll post a link. Séamus Heaney and Liam Og do it glorious justice. I always bawl my way through Midterm Break. A four foot box. One foot for each year… Sorry for mistakes, it came out of my head.
Hi Christy
Hope you are well

Mighty stuff Christy and Pat Darcy. 1985 in Croke Park a glorious time for Dundalk and Louth Gaa as the CBS roared into a Leinster Colleges final capturing the title as underdogs all the way. Led by inspirational skilled and resilient teammates and galvanized by muinteoirs Darcy, Hamill agus Doherty (RIP). Like yerself Christy, mighty men one and all.
Looking forward to seeing you in Vicar Street on the 29th December for a trip down memory lane.

Hi All. On this day in 1946 the first of two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, killing up to a quarter a million people and causing devastation for generations.
