Hello Christy,
I’m thinking all your gigs are underground affairs these days, apart from Vicar Street and a couple in the North. You have to keep your ear to the ground and know where to go (here…).
There isn’t time to put up posters. The tickets run out of the door and down the road in a trice.
I’m looking down your list of songs that are longing to be sung. I’ve a soft spot for Inchicore Wake and The Dark Eyed Sailor, as you know. Some that I haven’t heard of. It’s fertile ground. I’ve taken to emailing myself with the names of songs I want to learn.
Thinking about Danny’s question about acapella. Love the purity of it. I seem to have developed a taste for the spoken word stuff too. It’s all Séamus Heaney’s fault… Tried to find a recording of you reading Patrick Kavanagh’s “October” online, to post here. It’s safe at home. I’ve only been able to find a partial version online, it will play a few lines even if you’re not a Spotify user… https://open.spotify.com/track/0iLBUYilLz25cDxXS5DitL

Hi Christy,
it was a magic experience to hear you sing in Galway yesterday – such an energy, such a unique link beetween tradition and issues of today and a mix of a great sense of humour and extremely touching, intense songs! All that and much more made it so special! We felt a spirit of humanity which was at the core of the performance and the athmosphere. Thanks so much!

Welcome Katinka ( great name) and Thomas…..the gig has hit a golden patch of late…heres hoping it continues….new songs being well recieved…new listeners bringing fresh excitement to the gigs…….
Dear Christy,
Yesterday, a childhood dream of mine came true, when I visited your concert.
I grew up, listenig to your music, but growing up in Switzerland meant i could not hear you play live.
When my mum was my age, she visited Ireland a couple times and fell in love with the culture and music. We still have the vinyl record of Ride on, my mum baught almost 40 years ago.
The moment you came on stage yesterday made me cry like a baby.
It was everything and more than I could ask for.
I can not find the right words to describe how much it ment to me, hear you sing live, thank you for this wonderful experience! I will remember yesterdays concert for the rest of my life.
Hopefully, I can come back soon together with my mum, to hear you sing and play again.
Thank you so much, for all the great memories tied to your songs.
Much love to you.

Welcome Sunora….I always enjoyed Switzerland….many gigs there in bygone days….Nyon Festival a highlight
Hi C thank you for 2 wonderful high energy gigs in Galway over the past week, despite you struggling with some bugs you gave it your all, as usual. The setlists may have some similarities but each gig is without doubt unique. It is a marvel to me that you can be so focused to include dedications to various people, present and absent, while singing solo for 90 mins and also respond to requests !! I feel it is such a great honour to be there and to try and absorb it all. It is no wonder that every gig now has people who have travelled from all parts of the island and much farther afield. On a different note tg4 will re broadcast the docu on the late Denis Cahill at 21.30 tonight. It is a homage to the musical partnership between he and Martin Hayes and other travelling troubadours and the power of music to forge great friendships, it may be of interest to some here, it is very moving. Take good care beir bua agus beannacht . H

Hello Christy,
Just lying here this morning, mulling over last night. Beautiful day here. Sun streaming, Galway bay smooth with small birds flitting above the water. I wonder if there are insects there for them to eat.
My main thoughts right now are all full of respect and love. What a wonderful performer you are. The voice is sounding glorious. The tone is clear and strong. The bottom end is outstanding. Your voice is the perfect folk voice for me. Once again it felt like a masterclass. Instinct and quick silver thought. Maybe I’ll get to hear it unfettered by electronics one day. It’s good to dream.
Anyway, I’ll stop embarrassing you now.
We’re going to wander into the city today to have a look about. Hope you enjoy the James Joyce thing.
Do you need to add City of Chicago to the list or did I read too quickly and missed it?

Hello Christy,
Well here we are in lovely Salthill. Right in the thick of it, we’re in a great flat just above the promenade. And it’s gig day!!!
We’ve been sampling the local cuisine, noodles, loaded nachos and vegetarian chilli.
The journey across country was easy. Drivers here feel much less aggressive than in the UK. A little panic at a roundabout with a woman who went round it twice in the lefthand Lane, just as we were trying to get off.
Not many roundabouts here. We’re mowed out with them at home.
I think some mooching about today and maybe a bit of a paddle. The sea is just across the road and the weather is gorgeous.
Just thinking about David Rooney’s art. Starting with black not white gives it such a special atmosphere, like very very fine woodblock printing?
