Rebeccah, Id still respect the BBC in their relaying of the current Middle East conflict. Newsnight, 10.30, nightly can be good. Though the national broadcaster did take an image battering over those two paragons of virtue. Who knew? And did nothing? Channel 4 News is good. I agree.
I am unable to make the gig at Castlebar due to a family matter. I have a paper ticket which I will photograph and send free to someone who wants to come. It’s row A seat 39. Sorry to miss you. Saw you play in Oxford late 80s. Hope the tour goes well and you come to Wales in the near future.
Hi Christy,
I’m bringing my boyfriend Ciaran to your show on Saturday in Castlebar.
He’s dreamt of seeing you live, so what a great surprise treat for the evening of his actual 30th birthday.
Please could you give him a shout out, if you have time – we’re in seats C1 and C2.
Looking forward to Saturday.

Hello Christy,
I used to trust the BBC. It was a comfortable place to be, to feel that I could rely on their integrity to deliver a balanced, unbiased, well thought out view. It came as a huge shock to me when this was stripped away and I saw the lack of integrity for what it was. I don’t remember exactly when it happened, I was definitely an adult, and therefore should known better than to trust blindly. The Rolf Harris thing may have started to open my eyes. And bearing in mind, I live in a country where the “ruling class” appears to live in some kind of grotesque fancy dress party.
These days I find it impossible to trust news organisations. Maybe Channel 4? I feel that there are individuals who I can trust. Their integrity shines through. They generally have a very hard time and many are stifled to the point of death. Whatever it takes to shut them up. I guess this is where the songs come in. It’s very difficult to stop people singing. That’s something to be thankful for. It’s not much, is it. But at least we can keep singing.
Not sure where this post is going. Sorry.
John Liverpool, I dont think every broadcasting organisation is not going to broadcast every pro-Palestinian march. Are they? The number involved would influence the details being broadcast. The BBC HQ, London, has witnessed protests by both sides. When both sides protest over BBC coverage………
I went, Friday night, to support an Athlone Palestinian group. I think the weather wasnt a help, plus events at a Gaza hospital, a PR battle was staged and quickly lost. Might there have been more of a turnout?
John, I still watch Fiona Bruce on Question Time.

Hi Christy, settling back in after a lovely visit home , take a listen to “Interference “ Fergus o Farrell “American Townland”, I went into the rabbit hole and found this gem.
Thinking back to our chat in Galway, I’ll send on my song , I keep thinking “ how many pounds of flesh of innocent civilians, what will it take to stop the annihilation of millions, Do you remember old friend, so quickly we forget,”
I want to crossover, I want to kneel down and cry, for the kids that are murdered and never knew why, they played in the streets, they kissed in the alley, they worked in the olive fields , now they die in the valley.
This is my country, this is my home , we are it’s people, but they won’t leave us alone.
All these song snippets arose out of a single line you added to Johnny Connors” In Palestine it’s people are being killed off one by one”
I can only hope that the War Machine ends.
I performed at a wedding for the first time ever, I’ve avoided all requests previously to perform, but this time it was for my closest friends who are a lovely couple, they come to every gig and one night I sang “Mary O Malleys poem Daddy swing me high “ they were smitten by the lyrics as was I, so after a bit of perseverance from them both I performed it for the Father/Daughter dance and then slipped into Johnny Duhan’s “The Voyage “.
After 30 years with the same sound system, I’ve let them go, they did me well and after my OCD subsided I got QSC speakers and a Allen and Heath mixer, my old guitar is still hugging my heart after 34 years , you’ve changed plectrum, what’s the new one ?,
I hope you liked the little book I gave you in Galway Git, and I hope your having fun with the family and songs
Love you and Thank you Fin

Hi Christy, I attended a march yesterday in Liverpool against the bombing of hospitals & churches and the killing of innocent women and children in Gaza (NOT in support of Hamas).Over the weekend my daughter attended a similar march in Glasgow and a cousin attended one in Belfast but the only reports on BBC news was on a pro Israele demonstration in London and our ‘so called’ Home Secretary asking Met’ police why people attending a pro Palestinian march in the same city were not arrested. Only a few weeks back we were supposed to be outraged by BBC reports on the state controlled media in Russia and how any anti Ukrine war demonstrations were clamped down on and not reported in the news. The people this side of the water have ‘slept walked’ a long way down a very slippery slope over the past 10 years, time to wake up.
‘ No Time For Love’.
Morra Christy,
I like to listen to the Glasgow band The Bluebells . They have some lovely tunes produced over the last 40 years or so, including under their alter ego The McCluskey Brothers.
I was thinking of their version of The Patriot Game and did what one should never do…i googled it.
T’nternet tells me you sang it sometimes (and evenclaims soldiers asked you to play it).
Is it a song you have performed much?

Hi Christy,
Well the weather is shite.
And it’s only going to get shiteier.
So it would do a body good to get itself down to
the local picture house of an afternoon to watch
The Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese.
At over three and a half hours it will take up
most of said afternoon. Worth it like.

Hazzo2017 Re pubs. In terms of pubs in Belfast the Crown in iconic and worth a visit, also Maddens, The Garrick and last week a few of us went to the Sunflower Folk Club after the gig in the Sunflower Pub all are central. Dublin has plenty options maybe avoid Temple Bar ? As for Cork is that city or county ?? the Long Valley in the city, the White Horse in Ballincollig has good gigs and of course its always worth a trip to Clonakilty to De Barras and Shanleys and many more in that musica town. No drinks company sponsored this post !! safe travelling, hope to see you at a gig ?? H

Hello Christy,
Cold rainy days when I’m looking for comfort I listen to music that makes me happy.
Yesterday it was
Mark Knophler. Cal
You. Live at Vicar Street and Magic Nights.
Regular companions are Liam O’flynn, Planxty, Arty Mcglynn, Sean Nos singers.
This is where I’m immersed right now. I’m learning, learning, learning.
Listened to the Dark Days song you mentioned. https://interference2.bandcamp.com/album/breaking-out-the-soundtrack?t=11
Loved it straight away. The opening that’s so much classy guitar in a small murmuring space, and then in grow and grows. They used an ebow. This is new to me. I’m going to get this album. Thank you for mentioning it.
Tip for Danny.
I don’t know many pubs in Dublin but , last time we were there , we liked the Brazen Head so much we went back every day. Friendly, old, lots of musicians. They do a brilliant veggie shepherd’s pie. It’s gorgeous!
I need to visit the Cobblestone next time we’re in town, in January. The wind on the Liffey is perishing that time of year.
Hi Christy,
Delighted to find that our local Oxfam shop had 2 Planxty albums for sale so i snapped the LPs up….not at 1973 prices right enough.
50 years ago, jings.
Almost old enough to be taught in history classes!
Some bands go on 20th anniversary tours, re release a new ‘mastered’ version after 30, 50 years is an altogether different model.
Time now for a cup of Barry’s black label and a spin of the turntable without waking the missus, the nearby roosting rooks or the couple upstairs.

Stirs the soul – fervent delivery raises hearts…good one CM..I’ve come back to this song after hitting some of my other faves
An entirely selfish request from me here (maybe one or more on the site could be inclined to respond) – when I hit Ireland May/June next year with my grandson – any tips on some good “non-touristy “ pubs where we could sample a pint in Dublin, Cork & Belfast? I’d rather not queue five deep if possible
All genuine suggestions greatly appreciated

hope you got sorted
