Christy, Susanne and I want to thank you for playing the Voyage and dedicating it to us. It meant the world to us. We are definitely blessed as we celebrate our anniversary.
We enjoyed your concert in Castlebar so very much. We followed it with a trip around Ireland and got home to the US late Tuesday night. Last Saturday in Dublin we caught a Mary Black concert to end out trip.
Keep doing what you are doing. You can’t imagine how much your music is treasured.
Sweet Music Roll On
All the Best,
Malcolm and Susanne
Christy's reply
it was a pleasure Malcolm..happy to read that you and Susanne had a good trip…I enjoyed that Castlebar gig immensely and ye were part of it
Newcomer here! Discovered CM while listening to the Saw Doctors and haven’t listened to much else over the last couple years. My kids even love singing along to Lisdoonvarna – I just want to say I LOVE your music! Beautiful story-telling through song! I grew up on Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash and this reminds me of when music actually meant something! Will we ever see Christy Moore in Texas? We aren’t all cheeseburger-eating arseholes (but there’s a lot of them)!!
Christy's reply
no problem ZS..we got plenty burger munchers here too…I’ve got relations in Texas..all the finest of good people….no plans to play across the pond but still gigging the wild west here …glad to read that your offspring are singing..always a good sign
Dear Christy,
many years ago, before the introduction of digital radio, one of the highlights of a trip over to Ireland was to tune into Dear Frankie on Radio Eireann. I just wondered as a young fella did you ever seek advice from Frankie on how to woo the fairer sex or did you leave it all to chance and a splash of Old Spice?
2DC John
Christy's reply
sure did John…but strictly on a one to one basis…fair play ..she put me right, and she bought her round too
Hi C. I was introduced to Natalie Merchant through your singing of Motherland, she is in the Olympia tonight and tomorrow, hopefully she will sing that great anthem /love song I’m not sure what it is but it sure speaks to me. She does a very emotive and multi layered version of Lankum’s “Hunting the Wren ” on her current album https://youtu.be/zWJYEfp506U?si=XVji7W3I14Zf7yRG Was she really at one of your gigs in the Royal Spa ?? I’m sure the Cats are purring in great anticipation ! Beir bua agus beannacht. H
Christy's reply
I often wonder myself was Natalie Merchant at that gig in Lisdoon…I gets carried away some nights..dont know where I’m going, where I am or where I’ve been…
seemingly, last night in Dublin Natalie verified the story…. a trusted listener posted this from Natalie’s gig last night in Dublin
” Natalie said she was driving around Ireland with Susan McKeown and another friend ,”Lisdoonvarna” was their theme song for the road trip…they ended up in Lisdoon staying with some little woman running a vegetarian B n B …. then wondered would you ever be playing anywhere…and were told that you had retired … that you had some health issues…..but lo and behold they wandered into the pub and there you were playing….she said something to the effect.. Only in Ireland can these magical things happen”……
So, I did’nt imagine the entire scenario..or maybe I did and, by pure coincidence the good woman, just happened to be there…..Natalie is right about the magic that floats around us every singe day….
Hi, in response to the request of SylviaWarnke perhaps this clip from Martin Leahy’s facebook page will facilitate contact with Martin ?
https://www.facebook.com/100014026453763/videos/1728881224246485/ he also sang his song about being trolled for singing this song. A great gig in the Rebel, with a very lively and mixed setlist. Beir bua agus beannacht. H
Last night was my first gig in a while and it’s great to see the magic hasn’t faded. 3rd track of the night… “How Long”….my God was that powerful. All the more immense given the times we find ourselves in … and your delivery was as impeccably heartfelt as ever. The wave of emotion was apparent throughout the arena. A special moment. Thankyou Christy.
Christy's reply
Jackson Browne’s great song is a song for these dreadful times
(Part 2) I’m back and I’d heard from Bernard and Tony! They had a wonderful night and both could not stop talking about how much they enjoyed the show and that you were on fire!!! (Can I say that!?)
Thanks for calling them out but seriously, the song that you chose to perform just after the call out was by far super meaningful! Bernard’s Dad was a musical guy. He loved to sing and often played his Boron. You would have no way of knowing this but, The Voyage is a song that he often sang. To perform it last night was extremely special
for Bernard. Nicely done and thank you so much!
Bernard wanted me to ask you for the name of the gentleman who was on stage with you. Would he have an email address that he’d be willing to share? I’m sorry but all I have is that he travels every Thursday to Dublin to sing outside the Parliament Building and then returns home, travelling each week. Bernard would like to share the song with his colleagues in Canada. Can you help us to make this connection, please?
Thank you for creating a way for people who just live your music to connect with you!
Take care and once again, I’ll say thanks from the guys for a truly get evening in Cork!
Sincerely,
Sylvia Warnke

Dear Christy,
to make a very long story short. I had the gift as a surprise to come from Germany to Dublin and to join your gig in Mullingar last February. I loved it, even I ´d never expected to be able to see you again. Because meanwhile I m an elderly woman and not really keen to travel any more. ( I´ ve seen you loads of times in Germany before during decades) The gift was the most amazing and wanted thing after a house at the seaside for me! I ´m German and I ´ve been loving you and your music since I have been given a tape from you (Ordinary man) 40 years ago by a friend in Ireland. But because of all this I was set on fire again. So I´ ll be back now for your gig in Kilkenny. And I m sooooo looking forward to it. Last time I was unable to get a “very big” T-shirt( I ´m really not the skinny one) for me, so I hope I ´ll be lucky this time. But anyway I hope to get a seat in the front and have this not to top experience again! Lots of Love and please keep on rolling! My next claim is a gig at the Great northern. I hope very much you ´ ll do this next autumn! And I´ ll be there if ever possible.
So hopefully we both stay healthy and now meet at the Lyrath and next year at the seaside.
All the best and you ´re the most charismatic singer for me with this unbelievable presence !
This year on my Chhristmas card I ´ll take your saying: Any day you come home in one piece it ´s a good day….and so it is!
Love Ursula
I tried very hard to get a possibility to write a paper letter to you, but anybody did even answer my mails . Is there no contact bureau anymore ?
Christy's reply
hope you get a good seat in Kilkenny..its a good venue in a great town

Hello Christy,
Penguin Eggs arrived yesterday and was straight on the turntable. He’s putting a very personal stamp on all those songs, isn’t he… doing some things on the guitar that sound pretty unique from here, as you know I know pretty much nothing about the guitar apart from the noises it makes.
On afirst listening the rhythm is pretty baffling, how he’s sticking the guitar and voice together…
Lots more listening and learning to do.
Hello Christy. Thanks very much for a wonderful night’ of music and song last night in the opera House by the Lee.I was there with my cousin Ronan and his dad Michael who love your music.Ronan and myself went many a night to De barras to hear you play.Great to meet Hilary who is the Banrion. of the 4711ers.Roll on Vicar st.Let the music keep our spirits high.
