The historic quotes posted here are enlightening…
I can report that Jesus on the cross called out to Paul, who despite brutal beatings from the Roman soldiers, crawled his way to the foot of the cross.
“You called, Lord?”
“Yes Paul – I can see your house from up here!”
…as taught by Mother Imelda (or not) at St. Augustine’s Maryborough
Education is a fine thing
Bye bye Fiona Bruce – & don’t stop that permacrete smile

Hi Ed, yes I still tune into Question Time, the problem is although you don’t know what questions are going to be asked, depending on the political persuasion of the panel member, you know what (stock) answer you are going to get, so it can get a little predictable but still better than watching Nigel Farage in ‘I’m A Celebrity’. although it might be a nice change to see him eating bollocks instead of talking it.
(rant over, bet your sorry you asked).

in comes Fiona Bruce ….out goes David Dimbleby…..goodnght
Ah Christy, you’ve unleashed a grand shit storm there! You know the wee corner shop in Jonesboro will help you out, failing that Kitty’s in Dundalk can supply, provided the showbands have left some…..
You know you are just around the corner from Camlough, home of Raymond McCreesh….. I’ve just put on my On the Road shirt and CD…..The Time has Come would go down great tonight….
Christy's reply
good man pat..we’ll have arrange a bootleg recording for you
Words, quotes and ‘Aosdana’. I like it. John L, do you still watch “Any Questions”? (I never know that BBC programme’s name) Didnt tune in last night, was playing with words and ‘questions’ elsewhere.
Hi Christy,
I think the ‘source of the words’ were an off the record responce to a question to Charles following his recent kings speach. ‘Well your majesty what do you think of the performance of your government since you took the throne’?
“Shite” said the king and a thousand arseholes (or politicians as they are known) strained. I hate politicians.
Hi Christy,
Methinks those lines are from The King’s castration…
Months went by before the Queen came unto Daniel.
“Oh Daniel, I am heavy with child, what steps are to be taken?”
“Fuckin’ big ones !” replied Daniel
as he vanished over the Southern horizon.

I was sure those immortal words were written by the music journalist Robert Shelton! On reviewing the Elvis gig of 1968, when he was in his prime, he missed one of the high notes singing “It’s Now or Never”! The rest, as they say, is history! Maybe Scorsese’s next movie is about Elvis Christy?
Morning Christy,
Looking forward to seeing you tonight. As tradition as a family we see you every year.
Unfortunately my father died this year in a farming accident and so it’s just us 4 children going in his honour.
If a song could be dedicated tonight, it would mean the world to us. He was an ordinary man that did extraordinary things.
Hi Christy, taking my beautiful wife Clíodhna to see you again in Vicar Street on Wednesday 29th November. Have been listening to Sonny’s Dream a lot recently – what a song! Would love to hear it if you can squeeze it in. Take it easy, Paul
Christy's reply
I agree ….its a particularly good song….always a pleasure to sing it…hopefully it will emerge once more upon the night in question…it was written by the late Ron Hynes from Newfoundland….last Sunday night in Kilkenny there were three Newfoundlaners in the front row….we finished the night with Sonny’s Dream, specially for our three Newfie visitors…
….the o’neills etc, i spent a while with a friend on tuesday looking down across what was once o’neill land before the dreaded invader drove them off their own land.
Good songs, good land, good people.
Rory
Hi Christy,
I love Pat’s request, i love the song too.
I once quoted it to a Times journalist who was doing a story about Hawick’s internal divisions over the ‘lady riders’ issue around 15 years ago.
Anyway i also agree about
Christy's reply

………..can anyone identify the source of these words ?
Scorsese wants to use them in his next epic …I’ve neen asked to read in audition…I need to immerse myself in the relevant vernacular
Well Christy, I’m sure you’ll have a grand time in my hometown tomorrow night. Wish I could be there, might make Vicar St in January.
I had a great chuckle at your description of the Carrickdale, brought me back to the days flying up and down the unapproved roads for the cheap petrol and the goodies in Jonesboro market, aye and the odd trip to O’Neill’s of Cross for a session, hoping the whitecaps weren’t on the road….
As I lived on the Hill of Faughart, I used enjoy/not looking down into the Gap of the North, the Yellow Ford, Occupied Ireland, and reflecting on the valiant but vain effort of the O’Neills and O’Donnells to repel the marauding band of English invaders…
So Christy, I think there is one song a must for tomorrow night ..the cheek of me, making a request and not even gonna be there!

Hi Christy,
We met some thirty years ago in Dranouter, and started to attend your gigs in Ireland twenty years ago. After your last visit to the lowlands, we started a yearly tradition to come over to the Island for attending a gig of you. Last year we were in Dundalk as well, and tomorrow again. We are so happy and grateful that we still can do this and enjoy your concerts.
Unfortunately my son Lars and his girl friend Paulien had to work this year so they couldn’t join us. They send you and the whole crew their warm regards. This year, it’s only the three of us.
See you on Friday and keep up the good work.
Els, Eva, and Piet.

Hi Christy, just picked up your quote from the song Victor Jara…and went to have a listen in my collection…..Live at the Point 2006….
In your lyrics on this site you credit Arlo Guthrie and A. Mitchell with the song. Who is that Mitchell?
You sing that song so quietly, I feel the rage at the savage injustice just pours out….to this listener at least.

No problem John.
Hi Christy, no requests tonight; I’ll leave it up to your good self!
After a tough week, we’re really looking forward to seeing you.

Hi Christy/Pat,
I think that is Adrian Mitchell

(never tried to insert a link here before, no idea whether this works…)
Words/poem by Adrian Mitchell (1974), music by Arlo Guthrie (1976), sung by Christy ;-).
Thank you
