Hi Christy, good opportunity for me to join the German songsters here to wish you and your loved ones, the whole crew and all 4711ers “Frohe Weihnachten”, hours to enjoy with family and friends and a good, hopefully more peaceful 2024!
I guess it is/was a special year for you with your golden wedding anniversary! Congratulations to both of you, that’s quite a long way to go together! May there be many more years of togetherness to come with many ups to enjoy and only few downs to manage!
All the best to you
Birgit
Dear Christy. I wish you and your family a Happy Christmas. Enjoy the short break ’til Dec.29th. And enjoy the last gig in 2023. I follow in all what Selkie said.
I’m happy seeing you in May. As I first time came to Ireland in 1979 it’ll be my 45th anniversary trip. All the best to all, Günter
Christy's reply
Come the Merry Month of May Gunter and we will make the rafters roar
Hi Christy,
let me first say that I feel very honored to be allowed to be ( a very small ) part of this very special group of people here. It s a wonderful spirit and it s caused and initiated by you and your music. And we re all too happy to have the opportunities to listen to you even now and then. I d love to come more often and I envie all the ones how are able to belong more often to the listeners but I have to be very thankful even that I am able to come here some time. And this started unexpectedly this year and so your gigs and to be honest together with therefore the visits to Ireland made my year and changed my point of view in some ways. So I look back very thankful and with great happiness and hope we ll stay alive and meet again next year.
So I say thank you for all the thoughts and personal feelings and words here to you and all the other wonderful people here. I discovered this for me and I love it.
I wish you all very peaceful and pleasant Christmas days with family and friends and I m thankful we are able to enjoy it which is no longer self – evident in this crazy world. Let s pray for peace and content people who don t always want only more and more and more which seems so be a disastrous credo of our world. So all the best to you and Nollaig shona . Let s hope for a healthy and peaceful New Year.

these communications, the sharing, the information, the bon homie that exists here….the friendships that have come about thru the songs…all these thing are an important part of my working life
Hello Christy,
Please can I wish you and yours a lovely break over the next few days.
I hope you get everything you want.
This year I’m thinking of family and friends and music. I feel very lucky. I wish everyone could have the same.
Thankyou for sharing you gifts and hard work with us all. It’s changed my life.
Dear christy, I don’t have a Christmas tree this year, it is a kind of my solidarity with the people in Gaza . I did put up the nativity scene. It’s symbolisme has never been so striking. Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem , they were not welcome, they had to flee to egypt because of herod, who had the children murdered.
I placed a small angel next to the stable. You know, we are so blessed we can see our children and grandchildren on Christmas evening.
So Christy, not a Christmas tree but Christmas wishes: merry Christmas and many wonderful days in 2024 for you and your family ( comes from the heart of moeke)🥰
Christy's reply
every gesture, every donation, every prayer, every good wish, every little help, every act of solidarity with the suffering people of Gaza is worthwhile….sometimes there is so little we can do against this cruel onslaught…but lets do it when we can

Enjoy the pudding and stuffing and all that goes with it, but most of all enjoy the Family time , that’s what it’s all about really. Happy Christmas from the Hills.

Hi Christy
Do you remember playing the Galway RTC.
It would have been late eighties.
My Da worked there and brought us along.
You know sometimes a body or two turns up
and ruins the gig for everyone.
Well this was like that they all turned up on the one night.
Feckin students was my Da’s two word review.
So glad we got to bring him and my Ma to other gigs
The Ardilaun, Black Box, Radison for The Planxty reunion
and of course The Hanger.
He’ld be sat there enthralled hanging on your every word.
But in the car home when we asked what he thought
At least there were no feckin students
Joxer was his favourite song
I alway think of Da when we are at your gigs
or listening to the Vinyl and I thank you for that

Hi C. I d like to second what Patsy has written !! The songs, the gigs, the good company the enduring friendships over decades are very important to me and I know to many. It takes frequent visits to be so cognisant of all that happens around a gig….and no one comes near the frequency of your attendance….I know that, over the years, you have reached out to so many whom you felt might need a helping hand.
Its always a buzz for me when I read of praise being offered to all who work behind the scenes….I go out there every night to do something that I love to do….behind me are many who work hard to insure that both singer and listener enjoy the fruits of their labour…
Thanks Hilary….and Happy 2024….the almanac augurs well…all we gotta do is stay alive
HI Christy.

Hello Christy,
Here’s a newly shared recording of Shadow on the Hill https://youtu.be/DXW2kRi8ZXA?si=UeQvoYW-1bMfbvtY
Liam O’Flynn and Olaf D Vize.
This tune always appears in my mind around the time of the Solstice.
There was direct sunlight in the Newgrange chamber this morning at 9.15am.
Wondering did anyone see the documentary last night Run na Boinne on TG4 last night. They have found evidence of a second chamber at Newgrange using noninvasive methods.
Many thanks for your kind words of encouragement Christy. It means a lot coming from yourself …
Well it’s not Vicar St or the Point or even the Tullamore Court Hotel but I’ve been doing a few gigs around Brisbane and loving the experience.
It’s great to play live and connect with people and carry on a tradition inspired by the likes of yourself and your good friend Ger Fennelly.
Lean ar aghaidh a chara and I’ll carry your good JuJu with me down the Rocky Road.
