Hello Christy,
Hugs to Rory and all. No need to apologise for grumpiness. I know how you feel. The world is a strange place today. We do what we can, that is all. I’m at my brothers today. My nephews are nearly grown up.
Merry Christmas Christy,
A few dozen miles from Jesus’ birthplace , on the 2023rd anniversary of his birth, 70 and more people who are or were once children were ended in a refugee camp.
I cannot imagine it.
No eastern kings came bearing gifts, instead the order came to shift, bang.
I had vainly hoped that at least on this one night that while the music kept the people high, and the buildings would have kept the children dry….and safe.
Love and peace to you all.
Rory

6am, back in the old country….
these late December days always unleash confused emotions….
many of us drawn back into dusty corners
sounds of old re-echo
faces long gone appear from nowhere
its real quiet here, at the moment….
I hope you make it safe
into Auckland

tonight’s the night animals talk .. you must never listen..one Christmas eve a farmer listened to his donkey tell the cow that she had to go to sleep early.
The cow asked why,?
The donkey explained she had to carry the masters coffin in the morning.
Great commotion tonight at Mass our priest was very late and we had erupted into a full blown session by the time he appeared .He said he was sorry to interrupt us.!!
Then there was a search and rescue for the statue of the baby Jesus for the manger.
That delayed us another 15 minutes looking under the blessed mother ,Joseph and the baptismal fountain. In the end Jesus was hanging out in the back of the organ up in the balcony.
One of the lads that hides near the back door took the statue and held it up over his head like he was in Croke park ..he got a big ovation.
Best Christmas eve mass so far.. even better than the year the same man in the back took his pipe out of his mouth and shouted out a hearty “up sinn féin” during the sermon.

Wishing you, and all of the crew a happy and peaceful Christmas. Hope all get to recharge the batteries and come back refreshed for a good 2024. Thank you to all for the joy you bring ❤️
Dear Christy,
It was Christmas eve babe…..
There is a great version on youtube of Shane, the Popes and his mother singing this marvellous song. What else could we possibly sing in the bath today !
Tomorrow i’ll be singing that fine anti war/monarchy/enlisting song from Donegal that Planxty and that Paul Brady have fine versions of Arthur McBride…..
Now mark what followed and what did betide
For it being on Christmas morning
Hi Christy, some time you need to come over and say hello to the west coast of Scotland, so close and yet we don’t get to hear you. Glasgow is south, come to the north! A room and a dram are waiting in Oban. Slainté 🥃
You know Christy, the associationPlant een Olijfboom has collected 8000 children’s shoes and placed them on a square in Rotterdam. I think that is a strong statement.
Via Plant een Olijfboom we have an olive tree planted for our grandchildren’s 18th birthday. That is a way to protect the farmer’s land and to teach the kids about the problems there.
The eldest granddaughter was in palestine april this year. It is a dream one day to come there myself but I can’t even get to Ireland!…
Hi Christy! Well, many German spots mentioned here …Essen, Rheinberg, Frankfurt, Freiburg ….among others….and meself here in Rheinbach near Bonn.
Maybe we should get the German branch of the 4711ers organised!
Anyway Christy my family here want to wish your family there all the very best for Christmas, and the new year. We wish you health and happiness, and a love-filled family celebration.
Thank you for the music and thanks for the care and attention you show us all here.
Here is a wee German Christmas carol, hope you enjoy.
See you in Vicar St in Jan! https://youtu.be/PamrmrVB5Mo?feature=shared

Well Christy,
I hope you are keeping well and schlurping down the tea, and that Andy continues to sing and prosper with his tea sales.
His voice is a lovely compliment to yours, i don’t suppose there is any prospect of a release by the two of you?
Does this Train Stop on Merseyside was especially good, and his lockdown contributions always uplifting.

Hi Christopher,
Here is a little festive joke based on one I wrote for a comic as a boy. I hope you enjoy it. Barroga and good cheer to all, Francis.
Nick: Doctor, I feel like a camera.
Dr: Polaroid?
Nick: Yes, Schizophrenic.
Dr: Take these pills and see what develops.
A week later-
Nick: Doctor, my sex life is great but I still feel like a camera.
its the way you tell them Francis….keep pullin them crackers
We’re making Christmas Bells from broken shell’s! We’ve got tortoises from Tenerieff, ties from Timbuktu, China rats, Bengal cats and Bombay cockatoos
Just got to get them all wrapped and we’re good to go!
Have a good Christmas Christy and all!
