Hi Christy, Thoroughly enjoyed the show from the Aras last night. It was really well put together I have to say. It went aways to rekindling my qwn sense of national pride which, to be honest has been taking a serious battering of late. Great contributions from all concerned but particularly yourself. As always your humanity and humility shone through, our first citizen sat transfixed and in awe, as so he should. Thank you for all that you have given to this Country and her people Christy. Love & Respect Martin Mac
Christy's reply
is’nt it great to be part of it all Martin…Spring is here once more and its great to be here to bear witness to the re-awakening..hope all is well with you and that we meet again along the way
Hi Christy, Hope you are keeping well and had a fruitful time in the studio.
Did you get a chance to listen to The Sound?.
Who needs the black cloth when music is flowing through the veins.
Food for Heart and Soul.
John.
Christy's reply
thanks John..I did listen to The Sound and thought it a lovely piece, I did respond but obviously my response did not find its way..thanks for sharing….
Thanks be to goodness for President Higgins we should be proud,Christy did you know that his Father worked in Cummins Bar (Newbridge),if you get a chance you should ask him about that time. While Michael D. was canvassing a few years ago I met him in Cummins, he calls any time he is around.
Christy's reply
Thanks John..thats a grand nugget…my own father used to go into Cummins’s back in his hay day…he would have sung a few songs in there too…. The President’s Glaoch was wonderful project, beautifully filmed and edited too….love to Grainne and all the crew
Just watched the Glaoch online. It was great and you brought tears to my eye, Christy, with your song, Gortatagort. I see we’re (Tyrone) playing you next weekend. It’s around this time of year that the quiet desperation comes over me when the league is at its height. It then gets worse as the championship starts and the emptiness inside of me grows. There’s definitely another place I’ve got to be. I long for you Tyrone…
See what you started with that song ,,,
Christy's reply
good to hear from CA….always a great State to visit..had some good gigs there, Sausalito, Great American, Culver City, sailed around the bay in a mighty schooner and got the the dinner in Marin County..not too many hobos around there
Christy Jim Mc Guigan of Aiken’s father passed away on Friday, a request for him on Wednesday night would be well received! Looking forward to concert Go raibh maith agat
Mise aris !! The Glaoch will transmit on RTE 2 later tonight and for one hour and a half,,, so perhaps it will be the full programme,,, over an out,,, H
Christy's reply
The Full Monty…great to get two versions…what a great achievement ..no doubt you noted that twas a West Kerry Outfit that made the film
Yes …. it was disappointing to see a shortened version on RTE TV just now,,, why did they do that,,,,?? I hope the original from the web will be on the Player…very strange.. H
Hi Christy, RTE decided to cut two songs from An Glaoch, from last nights showing…
Your own powerful reading of Victor Hara and Glen Hansards and Lisa Hannigans
brilliant version of Falling Slowly…
If something ain’t broken, Don’t fix it…RyanL
Really enjoyed the programme ..
We have got nearly everything wrong in this country for a long time now but thank God we chose the right person as our President. I thought his Interview on the Late Late Show on friday night was exceptional too.
Hi. Im sure An Glaoch will be available on the RTE site…. but I cant seem to locate it now,, maybe it will be on the player after the broadcast tonight,,, here is a short cliphttp://youtu.be/omtbAFP2XQ4 … Philip King also played pieces on South Wind Blows on the radio last night.. beir bua. H
Christy's reply
fair play to Philip and Team…they delivered what was intended…they captured the essence
I just missd the Glaoch, caught it later on RTE News channel. It was a grast show , but what stuck out is that when you spoke to Pres. Higgins, he ” got it ” where the songs are concerned, and was definitley on the same page as you and many others. Victor Jara seemed emotional , but it was great television, thank you for your contribution…Im so happy now St Patricks day is over…hope you had a grand few evenings with Mairtín and band..grand day for the West
Christy's reply
we gelled in Tullow…entered the next phase…such pleasure to sit in the middle this music….Glaoch is one to remember..I bow my head in gratitude to our President
Christy, I’m attending your Belfast gig on Wednesday night with my husband Eamonn. If its not too cheeky can I request “The Voyage”. It was our wedding song 12 yrs ago and means a lot to both of us.
Many thanks and good luck for the show x
Christy's reply
We will push the boat out and all sail wherever the wind takes us
An Glaoch is a great piece of TV,,,,Irish talent presented by our President in a simple , straight forward way in the Aras, such great talent,,, Micheal D called Cultural Workers,,,, to assemble and share the best expression of excellence in the Arts from Ireland.. young and older were there,,, men and women,,,, all genres,,,,.it adds a very important dimension to the Gathering…. well done to all who answered An Glaoch. Wonderful to watch CM and the Pres talking together from the same page,,, home and place and the magic of the singer, the song and the audience,, and then to sing those powerful global songs,,,from Cork to Chile,,, I think I ‘ll watch it again ,, now,,Beannachtai na Feile Padraig,,,, H
