Hi Christy!
I’m the daughter (a Gen Z) of a soon to be sixty-one year old Christy Moore fan, and a fan myself. I have emailed Paddy and Paul with a slightly cheeky request along with an explanation as to why we hold your music so dear especially your song Ordinary Man. I’m hoping my dad doesn’t check your website to see my comment, he recently upgraded to a smartphone (from a a Blockia) so he knows how to do things now… Could I be even more cheeky and ask you to email me so I can share the email with you? emmacacton@gmail.com (my name’s not Emma, it’s my decoy). Thank you.
A mellow start to the day. Via what may be Paul Simon’s last record.’Seven Psalms’ Simple in format and fab guitar sound, it rewards a listener with layers of complexity. One of the reasons why I’ve admired his songs for years…some great vocals by Edie Brickell as well.
To all 4711ers…..
this site will be off line next Monday…going in for an oil change and fresh spark plugs ..let there be no panic….
I’ll be checking into The Priory for 24 hours
Hi Christy
With a strong wind and good mojo,I hope I’m able to post again…
Grateful thanks to Rory aka the Hawickmeister for forwarding numerous dagrab rambles with his characteristic good grace…
Today, there’s a hint of Spring and I’ve greatly enjoyed a Planxty fest. Not only the superb musicianship, but the fact that so much attention was paid to recording quality.
I now press ‘submit’ and cross fingers…
All good wishes.

Evening Christy,
I take my hat off to you for the gig this Friday for MSF emergency support.
It says all we need to know that you would put on this concert.
Music has a powerful place to play in awareness of causes of all different hues, and i am sure you will raise both the rafters and the coffers for Gaza.
Whether it is the vibrancy of 47 Soul ,MC Abdul’s rap or your tones, sing loud, sing clear.

Hi Christie
I’ve just heard that Steve Wright the DJ has died suddenly . They have just been playing ‘ Ride on ‘ on Radio 2 as a tribute . Apparently he was a big fan of yours . Very sad news .
Christy's reply
Sad News Indeed…Over the years I spoke with Steve on a number of occasions…always a welcoming host..in the late 80s he took a shine to “Welcome to The Cabaret” and was responsible for my gaining some fresh traction on (I think) GLR Radio…
Hello Christy,
Thankyou for the kind messages, Christy and All. I’m planning to give my Dad a very fine send off! I agree with all the comments about how sociable funerals and the afters can be. I’ve always enjoyed the get together very much. Seeing all the family getting together to catch up and reminisce. And no one is bothered because they’re not the centre of attention….
I have a theory about Planxty and the elements that might be a bit “out there”.
When I see the 2004 dvd recording I see
Christy. Earth. Foundation and glue
Liam. Air. Shiny like quicksilver
Donal. Fire. Drive and power
Andy. Water. Feeling and vulnerability
OK, I said it’s out there. I can’t help seeing it though. It could be why there’s so much chemistry and fireworks there.
Rebecca

This is classic Johnny Doran…mesmerising, simply cannot imagine how he achieved such playing….such pipering as this has never been achieved since Johnny Doran rolled on down the blue tar road
Sometimes everything falls together. Last friday I was in museum La Boverie in Liege for an exhibition on Bill Viola,,master of the video art. His works raise the question about birth, death, the meaning of life and a yearning for the afterlife, and the four natural elements. They are at once grandiose and intimate and of an unknown beauty.
The next day we were in museum Voorlinden in Holland for an exhibition on Anselm Kiefer. He also refers to the four elements and the question about birth, death, rebirth; masterful works contain a reference to the poems from Paul Celan, about the holocaust. And while I was enjoying such beauty, people who could not flee were being bombed in Rafah. It is so confusing, I can’t help but I wonder if I have the right to be so happy while others around the world are suffering…and I do nothing…
Christy's reply
on any given day,let us do the best we can….let us try and do anything we can to help alleviate the suffering of others
I know there’s a show in Botanic Gardens which will just be magic. Will anymore tickets for this be released? I missed out first time around and my hearts broke.
‘Funeral tea’ sounds nice. They’re nice, people do be sociable and often go out of their way to meet other folk, old friends, relations and whatever. And perhaps drag up things and have a laugh about old times.
So you’ll commemorate your late father on the 21st.
A relation of mine would tell people, betimes some would laugh, she prefers those events over weddings. People go out of their way to be sociable; absolutely correct.
I hope you’ll be remember nice things and have good memories about Da.
Christy's reply
Weddings can be great but …its hard to beat the afters of a good funeral….
I heard it said once…
“they must have buried him very deep, they were three days at it “
Hello Christy,
I’m just relieved that Scotland’s match wasn’t against England. We’d have never lived down that ending!
Things are calm here. My Dad used to come for lunch on a Monday. It feels very strange that he is gone. I’d hoped we’d have him for many more years. He was active and still driving himself about right up to his death. His funeral is set for 21st February. We have a big gap in this country. I’ve no idea why. Afterwards we will repair to the Golcar Lily to eat, drink, look at old photos and tell stories. Most Yorkshire people are too shy to sing.
Round here this is called a funeral tea.
Rebecca
Christy's reply
may you give your Dad a good “send off” in Gowker Lilys….every country has its own unique way of dealing with departure..,a funeral tea sounds good
Hi Christy,
What a hero young Stevie was today. If that didn’t motivate a team, then nothing could. https://youtu.be/nXJIglpcVBc?si=k9KENAErFJJBKqSb
Maybe, just maybe Mayo for Sam, with Stevie doing the motivation speech.
Hope you have enjoyed the break and raring to go again. Gig for Gaza will be special.
Best regards
Patsy

That young Stevie was brilliant yesterday…first time I ever enjoyed hearing Coulter’s Call…Stevie was so calm and collected out there in front of 50,000 people…I wish him and his family the very best ….
Hi Christy… Came across this song on YouTube by a man called Charlie Fealy (formerly of the Blarney Pilgrims (Glasgow Irish folk band)). It describes the Kirkintilloch fire disaster in 1937 which ended the lives of 10 young lads from Achill who were over for the summer working as ‘tattie hokers’. Thought you might be interested in this topic and a nice song to go with…. “For Ten Sons Of Achill” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgarzoWNVkQ – Connor

Thank you for sharing Connor….we’ll be having a listen to Charlie Fealy
Evening Christy,
Just back from Murrayfield….we wiz robbed.
I wish the rugby authorities would ban kicking back and forth from one side to another, and insert that the attacking team could be given the try if there is any dubiety ,like they do in rugby league.
Anyway, national anthems…..Flower is decent ( especially when sung without music), the Marseillaise is stirring, the Soldier Song fabulous ( better than shoulder song though it is ok) , welsh anthem fine and well sung, but ‘god save’…..with ‘rebellious Scots to crush’ does nothing for me.
Before the anthems at Murrayfield the brass band and crowd sang ‘500 miles’ which was fun.
Finn imperious today but we were adjudged to be losers on the scoreboard.
