Watched you on the Tonight Show singing Jim Page’s poignant song Palestine.
Wounded Child, No Surviving Family such a poignant and powerful acronym, coined by front-line doctors. The muralists who work the international wall, along the Falls, have powerfully replicated paintings/messages of despair from Palestinian artists. I am working on a poem – Painting for Palestine Imo Heba Zagout who was tragically killed in an air strike that hit her home killing her and two of her four sons. Born and raised in Bureij refugee camp she was an artist and schoolteacher and used her canvas as a vessel to document and preserve the richness of Palestinian culture in the face of of erasure. Heba’s vibrant painting of fireworks blazing in the sky, over crescent, cross and dome – was included in protest and in solidarity with her resilient spirit. I will think of her when you sing Palestine in Botanic. Mary

serious training for next Sunday…my last out door gig in Belfast was Casement Park..it was a Sunday afternoon way back in the 80s or 90s…I want on after a Glasgow Fife and Drum Band…the skies opened..I sang “The Boy from Tamlaghtduff”and the sun came out..I think it was run by Tom Cahill…afterwards we went to The Conway Mill for refreshments..
“O the tae it came round in big geouls it was stuff very strong
Myra said spake up or make us the verse of a song
auld Bill be the fire was cursin and swearin with fright
for his gander was stolen and roasted last Saturday night”
Hello Christy. Thanks very much for a night of musical brilliance last night in the concert hall.It was some set list. Saturday Night, packed in Tight

Hey Christy! Thank you for such a wonderful, high energy performance last night at the NCH! I’m over from Atlanta, GA and the show last night will be the highlight of my trip. Palestine was such a powerful, poignant song. The social media one hit hard after seeing the anti-immigrant lot holding placards and passing out leaflets on Grafton Street (but getting angry when people would take their photograph).
Really a wonderful and well done performance. Thanks again for lifting my spirits on a magical night!!
Christy's reply
its manys the year now since I played in Atlanta….I was a much younger man still finding my way around the USA..I searched and searched but always ended up back here ..so I stopped searching…
thanks for your feedback…I enjoyed last night immensely..
I always remember what was written on Woody’s Guitar
It brings tears…
the beauty of its sweeping majesty…
words seem inadequate when trying to describe the emotion unleahed on hearing and seeing this again….
I was reminded last evening when Kevin posted the latest Mark Knobfler video…the atmosphere among the players…the pleasure emanating, the smiles of recognition as beauty was achieved…
Hi Christy,
That’s a fine room they have in the NCH for a show.
Everyone in fine form The Christy, The Crew,The Choir
and that was some set list you got through.

Dear Christy. Deeply impressed the morning after the concert. We noticed the female voice from the front row un that situation. A kind moment with Anita.
If you configure your devices as a German user you will get the keypad with the ü.

thats a step too far for this addled confused keyboard pensioner….I’ve just got a new laptop..took me two weeks to get it started….
I’d be afraid to configure lest there be no road back….that said….I do love Germany..great memories…Scnapps in Kaiserslautern, Eintopf in Munchengladbach, Hashish in Hannover and Appelkorn in Mannheim stoned
( I’m still trying to forget the schmaltz in Bremen)
Dear Christy. What a night at the NCH. Inspiring! You made the honourable hall rocking. You really raised the roof. Thank you for your music. Thank you for the powerful performance. And of course for the shout out. Günter & Uli
Christy's reply
and thank you all for listening….ye sang , ye inspired, ye listened, once when I forgot the words, the woman in the front row called out the missing line ;
“her name was Anita, he called here Rosalita,
when the beer and the whiskey went to his head”
that prompt saved the day,
there were listeners there from everywhere, all gathered beneath the carousel of healing, we rock ‘n rolled around the church of ceilí….I could have sung all night but Dave had to catch the Midnight Bus to Timoleague, Noel was heading back to Sierra Leone, Eilish & Peter to Inchicore ….myself had to milk 3 cows this morning before serving 7 mass in the Pro Cathedral..
its all go here Gunter ( how do you get the dots over your u ?)
talk later Patsy….i’m slipping back into the arms of Morpheus
a glorious Mark Knobfler or Steve Cooney
but to find Liam, Sean and Arty in harmony with Matt & Neil has made my day
the first three companeros gone to the celestial snug..the latter two still to the good Thanks Be
And please accept my apologies for being presumptuous about your set list – I’ve just re-read my post, it wasn’t meant to sound like a request (or, an order, eek!). it was just that I’d thought that during the introduction to Palestine on the Tonight show you said your were singing it during three gigs at the NCH.
I’m really looking forward to tonight’s gig. It’s just a short, solo trip to Dublin for me this time, but a good one.
All the best,
Anne
Christy's reply
all good Anne….
always good to get a post from across the water

Hi Christy,
I see the smiths and barrs are heading to see you tonight.
The fact that the great smiths of cleland are leaving these shores on glasgow derby cup final day in favour of your gig speaks volumes of your pulling power.
I hope the smiths, barrs and a moore have a braw night, whilst they love the old songs of rebellion i recall that Beeswing was also a favourite of theirs.
Kevin Smith got to know your old friend Hamish Imlach too.
Have a great gig.
Talking of families, how is Andy doing? , i for one miss hearing his complimentng soft voice echoing your deeper tone.
Rory
Christy's reply
Thanks Rory….you’ll hear him on the forthcoming album….he joins me on a few tracks…always a good buzz when we get to sing together….be nice to try a Folk Club gig together….his daughter is a great singer …but only when nobody is listening or looking

The Rising Sun film: I agree. Up there among the best ever Irish-made films. It remains true to John McGahern. Highly recommended.
a wonderful film with a most awkward title….
“The Rising Sun” would have made recommendations easier to achieve
not forgetting:
“from The Rising Sun in Brownstown to The Blue Lagoon in Sligo Town
Ballymurphy and The Bogside, Ballinamore and, once, in Ballinasloe”
ever hear that one Ed ?….huge in the 80s
Hello Christy,
Do you mean An Droichead?
