Hey fellow music lovers.
Most of us feel music has a part to play in shaming those who war.
I encourage any like minded souls to venture to Bandcamp and for a mere fiver buy Andy White’s fresh EP ‘Gaza’.
This is the link to one of the 4 stunning pieces. https://youtu.be/wm3c2nMtq2k?si=PyMsfMwEn5D8mOiV
Andy has kindly come to play for us in Hawick a few times in build up to festivals.
A protege of Terry Hooley all those years ago.
I venture to say this EP is his best work.

A fantastic gig last night Christy. Great atmosphere. Fabulous venue. The rain staying away helped. Not often we are treated to a three song encore. 10 out of 10! 👏
Thank you Christy for a wonderful gig last night. Long time since I heard you outdoors. Many memories came flooding back. Loved the craic and the buzz and your set list so thoughtful; you sang about everything that matters. I’m sure you felt that from the audience. Thank you for singing about Palestine💔
I’m not surprised you were wrecked afterwards, such a high energy gig. God bless you and thank you again!
Great work,Gerry….thanks,Anne… Fab to see the buzz from last night’s fun!
Sorry,Rory…forgot to answer the road question…America, by Paul Simon, for me…as recorded by S and G…never loses its magic, even after singing it on a huge heap of gigs. Two Nightshift songs made the 75th birthday video. When the warning flashed up about US lawyers,Pat wisely gave a swerve on our version of America!

Hello Christy,
Oh it sounds like a great gig. Wish I’d been there. I saw what you said about doing a gig where you choose all the songs you want to play, also about gigging a folk club with your son Andy.
I think it’s a damned sgamd if you never do a gig with all your own choices. I’d love to hear it. Iat was be brilliant to gear you singing all your favourites. The folk club thing is an amazing idea. So much so that I’m struggling to imagine it. The Topic club would be flabbergasted and pinned to the back wall if you ever turned up there.
I read Rory’s question about songs about roads. I don’t think I have any, but I do have a print on my music room wall of a spoof vintage travel advert. It says M62, it’s quicker by car. I bought it because it made me laugh. The M62 is notorious for being at a regular standstill. It’s the biggest car park in the country!

Ah Christy you played a blinder. Thank you to you and the magnificent lads for an evening never to be forgotten.
There were too many favourite moments but if I had to choose it would be Palestine. My daughter and my son in law were absolutely mesmerised and I am so grateful to have been assisted by your good self to have made memories for them. I hope they remember how happy I was.
The second best moment was to be reunited with the finest of women Tina Harbinson (together with Decky and the beautiful children). As if the decade or so since we had last met in Limerick had been the blink of an eye. Time passes but cannot erode what you have created. So all the best to you and the lads. We’re off to Derry for a few days I am grateful and joyful beyond words. Xx

The first time I heard you sing, was in the Green Briar with Moving Hearts. I was 16 years of age (fake id!). Too many venues to mention but to be at your first outdoor gig tops all. Thank you for singing Nancy Spain for Nainsí Shannon.

I still remember that Green Briar gig….1982 I think…Moving Hearts were rockin it out….Donal Lunny,Declan Sinnott, Keith Donald, Davy Spillane,Eoghan O’Neill, Brian Calnan and Your Truly…behind us were Norman Verso, Cid Isaacson,Matt Kelleghan….there were nights when we made an almighty racket, sweet music, fun sweat and tears…the Green Briar was hot ‘n heavy…brits and saracens, jeeps and copters, blacked out faces and scowling squaddies…..AND a room chocker block with wonderful listeners who raised us up to the task at hand
that was the thing about last night…saw no peelers nor paras…better get back to specsavers….
I wonder were you and I the only two there last night who were at the Briar 42 years ago ??
Hi C What a triumphant return to Belfast in the Botanic Gardens tonight, so different from the Waterfront, you came, you sang and your conquered !! It is such a lovely space well able to cater for 6,000 listeners !! A great welcoming crowd who certainly knew the songs. You played such a pertinent setlist from Lyra to Boy from Tamlaghduff, They Never Came Home to Palestine, and of course Rosalita and Jack Cambell, to sing Beeswing, The Voyage and Sonnys Dream was so special. Ordinary Man, Lisdoon and Joxer got them all going. The sound was perfect from start to finish, no mean feat in a field !! Again thanks and congrats to all the crew, your own tight team but Aikens and all the other sound and stage crew and security staff also. The gig went off without a hitch, what an privilege to be there. It augurs well for Iveagh Gardens and even the Tent. GRMMA, beir bua agus beannacht. H

I hope you’re well Christy. Must be 6 months since the last time I saw you. Heading to Botanic Gardens along the banks of the Lagan this evening and I can’t wait. I first became interested in your music as a student in Belfast almost 30 years ago and I’ve listened intently ever since. Back then student life in Belfast entailed long sunny afternoons in Botanic with a myriad of GAA tops and Harp lager (the original craft beer 🍺)!and Christy on the CD player. What a great time just after peace had dawned on the wonderful Lower Ormeau. My son and his girlfriend are coming to see you for the first time tonight. I think we’re all in for a treat.
